Some passes from Saturday Night--first time at Sacramento Raceway

First time racing at Sacramento Raceway. I liked it, alot of action with GrudgeFest. Raced in the Horsepower University event. Ended up in the final against Chris Alston of Chassisworks lol. What a slaughter and he wasn't even trying either. Car can run 6.60s in the 1/4 mile.

First runs with my new suspension set up--I set the pinion angle at - 1 degree (everything is solid, don't see how anything could move to need more angle). I set everything to what I thought was "square". Car left straight, level, and flat--but looking at the first pass frame by frame I can see the front suspension still extended way past the 60' mark, keeping the weight on the back tires. On the second pass you can see the primered Chevelle lift the tires way up, yet our 60' times were the same. I think a couple minor adjustments will net me some 1.25 60' times at Famoso in 3 weeks. Best 60' in this video is a 1.298 and a 1.300.

No, the wife did all the videos, but she was getting tired at the end of the day. On the road at 6am, raced till 10 pm, still had to pack up and go home, which we got home at 5am. Ted had this huge Galaxy or Samsung phone, it was nice.

Yeah, I was honored to line up against him. Its funny, his crew came up to me in the staging lanes and asked if I wanted lane choice. I lol'd and said it ain't going to matter. It was funny, they were testing the new Holley data acquisition box. They had over 25lbs of boost pulled from the engine and still just took it easy down the track and still ran that.

Hey, we all had to start somewhere. My first passes back in 1987 were 14.00s at 102 mph in my 67 mustang fastback.

Ted is a cool dude. I wish I could meet more of the board peeps but everyone is so far apart. Thats why I wanted to put together a race for the board.

LOL... Ted is pretty cool. He catches a lot of shit because he speaks (types) his mind, but that isn't a bad thing. Worse case, You always know where you stand with him. His an "original Member" and still going strong too. One of the few who remembers how it used to be. We are a dying bread.

I would love to try to get a central US party going, but it damn near killed me (and my reputation) doing an East Cost event and no one ponied up any cash on the OK trip.

I think the only way its gonna happen is if one of us to assume a total loss, rent the track no matter what, 100% out of pocket and puts a "members only" invite out. Then just be prepared to have anywhere from no one to 30 cars show up.

Oh she goes with me all the time. Next time she is going with me is Vegas on November 14-17. Its only going to be my twin brother and I at Famoso Nov 2 and 3rd though.

You can sure tell by listening to the videos that it is a BIGGGGGG motor.

They just have a completely different sound from like that little motor of mine.

JPC's little motor makes more power then mine.

Seriously though, the only reason why I went the route I did was reliability. With such a big motor on such a little shot of N20, I am not pushing it hard at all. This last weekend I checked the plugs after every pass, checked the oil breather tank, charged the batteries, and thats it. Just like every other time out the last 2 1/2 years. I did loose a head gasket once, but since I don't have a 9 foot long timing chain it only took me an afternoon to fix. Other then that I just change the oil and check the valve lash. It really has been an excellent motor so far.
