Spacers @ brake fluid to accommodate m-2300-s

Managed to get a great deal on the above brembo 4 calliper, 14" brake kit (take off).

Was thinking of 1" spacers for the stock 18" wheels on my 09 GT to remain clear of the kit. Would these be good/do the job? www.americanmuscle.com/1in-billet-aluminum-wheel-spacers.html

Or maybe 1.25" on ebay from an outfit called ubertechnic. Anyone heard of these? Is 1.25" too much?

Lastly i don't think the brake fluid has ever been drained since it left the dealership. So just want an opinion on some quality fluid, maybe Dot 4? Saw this stuff on amazon for $17/L. Anyone used it? Seems the most popular choice according to Amazon reviews but not many are applicable tona Mustang.

How many cans would i need once i've drained the original fluid? 2 or 3?

I ran 7/8s spacers with my Brembos and stock Bullitt wheels. 1" will be fine, 1.25" is way too much and they'll stick out. Just pick up 1-2L of whatever DOT 3/4 they have on the shelf.

ATE-200 is very good DOT-4 fluid. Wilwood 570 is a good DOT-3 fluid. I bought 2 x cans of the ATE stuff for my 2010....but only used slightly less than 1 can for the entire job. Watch out, those spacers are listed as rear only. Eibach makes em in both front..and rear versions. I have not seen both versions, so don't know what the difference is between the fronts and rears.

I'm going to be running those exact same AM spacers on my S550. They are sitting in my storage unit now. Alot of guys with 15+ are running them, since the wheels are so tucked from the factory.

Rather than spacers, look into getting a set of the 18x9.5 GT500 wheels - they're at least an inch wider, so they'll support tire widths at least 20 - 30mm wider than the OE 235's) and they fit without any extra parts, nuts hidden behind wheels that you can't easily check for tightness, or other work.


I used to run that ATE200 brake fluid until I got faster and more serious with a track day habit. Two liters should be enough for a flush. BTW, you can 'gravity-bleed' most of the old fluid out, just keep topping off the reservoir when it drops to the min level mark so you don't have to separately bleed the master cylinder.

I run 1" hubcentric spacers all around when I mount my 18"stockers in the winter (blizzaks). Kind of tight to the brembo calipers but works fine

Yeah i was planning to buy the brembos new next year with some 19" wheels. But a friend had his car written off unfortunately so i picked up a few bits and pieces off him. I just want the spacers as a short term fix for now. But maybe ill just go ahead with the wheels instead.
