spark blow out ?

I ran into this today i think. I went wot in 2nd and right around 5000rpm or a little more, the car doesnt want to rpm or accelerate anymore. Did it again this time in 3rd when it did it the rpms slowed to a crawl and i am assuming it backfired thats what it sounded like. Any below that rpm range the car is fine. I have hto plugs they are a but old 3-4 yrs. Granted i dont really race the car or get up there that high in the rpms so this is a new issue. Any ideas....

Start with a new set of plugs and gap them down

From what I was seeing with mine, yes. Same as you with the rpms being flat at 5 k and some poping or back firing.

As the other members mentioned on here get a new set of properly gapped proper heat range and tip type spark plugs in that thing. When is the last time you changed your fuel filter?

The newest sets of autolites HT0 that we've got (since they come with the SS extensions) came pre-gapped to about 32.

Talk about being ass raped 130 for spark plugs pre gapped. Sadly i ordered them. Also how often should a fuel filter be changed?

Fuel filters are inexpensive and relatively easy to do. All you need is a few tools and fuel line disconnect tool.
