cool! I love audio equipment. Just another hobby I don't have the money to pursue.

I'm lucky enough to have a good friend that is the shit. He gets me some pretty cool deals when I need them.

He built a 10" sub box for my jeep that is simply amazing. We used a handmade True Bass 10 for it. Sounds better than 90% of the 12s I've heard.

That is my first true love, designing systems. Box is looking nice. Do yall ever use aero ports?

With this installation we want to be able to tune to a specific center frequency. Aero ports have a mutli-diameter mouth which cause them to resonate at a wider frequency bandwidth.

Aero-ports work well with flattening the response of a low Q speaker. This application would be for a mid Q speaker like we are using.

I was just asking. I use them in all applications. I tuned my 2 15 l7's using 4 4 inch aero ports tuned to 28 hz. I miss that system.

Speaker hole cut. Had to do it 1/4 inch off center so the position of the speaker is so that the rear wave of the speaker is not aligned with the mouth of the port. This assures proper loading of the driver.

Love the new sig!!!!

Yeah, I don't have a system in my GT either. I think my factory system sounds OK enough. In it I like to listen to the music of the 4.6 anyway.

Done for the night. Will carpet and install later. Just tested it. Sounds good to be in a 1,300 square foot basement, lol

That's awesome. I really want to throw a little 8 or 10 sub in my trunk on the side cutout...

I've seen him do some little boxes with very high quality 8s that were crazy. He put a pair of 8s in his wife's car and they sounded awesome.

It's amazing how a super high quality small speaker can sound like a store brand of two sizes larger if the box is built right and paired with a proper amp.

This build was just a fairly cheap and easy setup, but with higher end stuff he goes all out. Using meters in the car before the build and all, just to match everything up from the car to the speaker to the box, etc.

In 2009 he built the loudest car in the USA (MECA) and they won 2nd place in the world. The only reason they got second instead of 1st was because an amp blew at the finals and cost them points.

Going to have him do anything for your car??

So far I've been happy with it the way it is. I don't even have an aftermarket deck in it. I don't drive it much and when I do I'm more into listening to the engine. But since it looks like I'm keeping it, I'm sure I will soon enough.

It's the first car I've not put a system in.

I thought about having him use my car to fab up something so we could make a few and sell them. We did that with my E46 and sold complete kits ready to install. The amp was already attached to the box and set up, all they had to do was plug and play. Pretty awesome setups. Dual 10s

That looks like the kind of stuff that makes me want to reach for a firearm if used to potential...

On a similar note, the SEMA Action Network posted on another forum about a bill introduced in Hawaii to ban most aftermarket stereo equipment of this nature. It's been deferred, but it's just a matter of time before someone gets pissed off enough about getting vibrated out of their skull that something like this happens for real. I understand that the vast majority of users are considerate enough to keep volumes reasonable when next to other people, but it only takes a few to screw it up for everybody. And you never know who's sitting in the car next to you....

I'm also one of the first to appreciate a clean sounding system.

You'll be happy to know, that even at 145dB at the headrest, my system is crystal clear lol. DKS can confirm lol.

Wanted to clear this up lol

In 2009, I built the loudest Mod 2 and Mod 5 vehicle, we set new records in VA and in a string of horrid luck, our mod 2 car had an amp fail during world finals and we placed 2nd in world using 1/2 the power we were planning on lol. unrestricted (un-fused) our single 15 Mod 2 system would idle a 150.1 @ 34Hz at the headrest on termlab, 151.6 A dash and 152.3 at the kick. 33xx clamped watts in a beat up 92 Celica lol. Mod 5 system idled a 154.7 @ 38Hz Headrest/termlab, 156.1 dash 156.9 kick (2 DP21's) on a VFL 1000.1. in 16.65 @ 36Hz. All systems were 12V systems without HO Alts.
