The Bullitt springs sit about a 1/4" lower in the back but the same in the front as stock ! Not having seen the springs in the S197 yet if there no pigtail on one end you can cut them ! BUT from MY past experiences I wouldn't cut more that 3/4 of a coil and even then it's iffy ! Don't know how low that would get you ! The more you cut the more chances of the spring shifting on BIG bumps which will throw the car of kilter and could cause you to loose control ! Just saying it can be dangerous if you cut too much out ! I'd say WAIT and save up for real lowering springs !

I've only ever cut coils to see what height I want to drop a car after I had a spring shift in the back of my Camaro and had the back corner lock-up and i almost spun out !

cutting springs reduces the ability to be a progressive rate spring. meaning: aftermarket springs are progressive, they get stiffer the lower the car bounces, so over small bumps its nice and smooth(ish) but when u hit a big bump the suspension is stiffer at the lower end of the coil compared to the top end as to prevent the suspension from bottoming out.

cutting the springs causes too many problems to be worth it, just save up for some manufactured lowering springs and go to bed worry free!
