yeah, press fit wouldnt work in something that cycles hot/cold and that much movement, would be digging into the cylinders in no time

The older engines used press fit pins. Most machine shops have a heater that heats the small end of the rod to expand it so the pin can be pushed through.

By "older" you mean early 05+ 3v engines or 2v and older?

The Chevy 3.8 I rebuilt last year had press fit pins. It was an 87. I'm pretty sure the 302/351 we're all press fit in stock form.

The Windsors ran press fit pins at least until 1996, I wouldn't be surprised if they ran them until production ceased in 2001. They worked just fine, just a bit more friction than a floating pin.

Holy fuck we all know sbf and the like were press fit, we're talking about mod motors guys. It sounded like 01YellowCobra was saying the early 3v deals might have been press fit.

Obviously not everyone was aware of that fact. Next time I'll be more clear about my use of "older".
It was more the "woludn't work" comment that we were putting to bed.
Pretty much.

It was just confusing because the original mention of press fit wasn't a question about anything other than the 3v. No worries mayne
