So purchased my StopTech Street Performance brake pads but there seems to be an issue with the "clips" at the end of the pads.

here's a photo of my new pads:

Do you see those clips on the end that are pointing in different directions ?

I tried to straighten them out with pliers but they won't budge and if I force it, they'll break off.

WTF !!

I guess I'll have to send them back for replacement.

I purchased them from AmericanMuscle.com

What do you guys think?

It is strange that you can't repositing the clips with a set of pliers and yes, they may come off. You may want to contact AM with the pic and see what they say. I had a set of OEM pads with same issue, I used a set of pliers to set them right and they came off, but I whacked them back in place and install--no issues so far.

I've never had the problem that the clips won't move. Usually will swing on the rivet with no problem. Try releasing the tension on the bottom of the clip (arrow) around the rivet with a screwdriver or something as you turn it. The direction you are trying to turn will naturally tighten the wire around the rivet making it harder to turn.

Also as long as the clips are held against the bracket they will be fine. They are there to hold the pad in place and pull it off the rotor slightly when brakes are not applied and if that's what they are doing you're good.

Should those clips all be straight in a line or at 90 degrees or something in between?

Usually in line like the top of the left one in the pic. Close to inline, as long as it is pressing against the bracket, will work.

Ok, I got them straightened out. :dancingpoop:

The trick is that you have to spin the clips only in one direction. The opposite direction just tightens them.
