Hello all, new to the boards and s197 ownership. I just bought a 2006 Mustang GT and I'm freshening components up as needed. Plan is to go into the motor next spring for upgrades and possible supercharger. This will start out as a street/strip car with heavy emphasis on strip with slicks. It will eventually become all strip. My question is, has anyone used the Strange Engineering bolt in 9" rearend with good results, and if so are they truly bolt in? I know Currie makes one as well, but I prefer the Strange housing style. Also, would it be preferable to have it narrowed from stock width?
Thanks,
Andrew

you can modify an 8.8 to handle over 1000 hp, and it's completely bolt in, because it's designed for the car. Brace the housing, weld the tubes and run 31+ spline axles. If you already have a housing, this is the cheapest way to go.

As far as being narrowed, your housing width will depend on how much tire/wheel/backspacing your going to run. You can get a pretty fat tire on there with no body/housing modifications

They make a great product. Depending on what level you are looking to go with, there are plenty of 8.8 components to utilize to beef up what you have.

I've ran the strange 9 inch. Not worth the cost of admission unless you plan to go deep in the 8's. The 8.8 can be made to last under tremendous loads, with the right build. And less money/hassle.
