I agree too. I'm trapping 128-130 and on good tires. Forget dig launches on the street. Hooking up from a roll in 1st gear is iffy but has happened on good clean sun warmed pavement on nice days. It's rare though.

1000whp sounds cool and it definitely is. But not sure about that in a street car. I can do toasty burnouts with a lot less tire and power and for less money if that is the objective.

550ish is "enough" IMO. But I realize I'm a little unusual since most people aren't able to be "satisfied". :whistle1:

That's me! Lol

Never satisfied. It's just my nature.

If you're shooting for an ET goal I suppose you keep adding power/suspension until you're there. 600+ seems to be the bare minimum for 10s if you want to keep the interior.

Not to take away anything from the op, but the initial hit that a PD gives sounds fun and I read lots of posts on here from people that DD their cars with a PD, but wouldn't a centri (in a manual) car be a better DD, as it keeps the boost at a higher rpm, therefor making it easier to drive everyday? And if you put a 550 rwhp PD and Centri car on the track at the same time and essentially the same driver how would things play out?

That really depends on your power level and your ability to adapt to the car. What's "easier to drive" is a broad range when you consider the differences in people's tolerance levels. With that said Bruce made it sound like his 16psi 600hp PD car was almost unbearable to drive on the street with the aggressive bypass valve, while some like to see torque curves rise up like a cliff and not wait for the supercharger to "spool" like on a centri setup. There is a clear point to diminishing returns to this level of low-end torque though, because traction is a finite resource.

My underpowered centri car is still plenty of fun to drive on the street. Throttle response is instant even though I don't see full boost until 4800-5000rpm, and by then my 275 width Pirellis lose grip and I feel the car going slightly sideways when I'm in 1st gear. Even before boost registers the car feels strong and I attribute this to professional tuning.

I enjoyed driving my TVS on the street with 15psi of boost. It's all in the throttle control. The harder you push the skinny pedal, the faster your tires spin. I wouldn't see any boost at all unless I pressed the go pedal more than an inch or so.

If you learn to feather it just right, you can put ur foot into it just enough so the boost gauge is just to the right of zero.... like 1-3 psi. In theory, the throttle response should be able to be tweaked in software... to minimize any light switch effect.

I'm 100% happy with the power I make on the stock engine, just an idiot and bored and haven't been able to tinker with an engine for years, so I want to build the 4.6 and wind up with 600 or so hp.

I'm hoping that 295 rear tires and the truetrac help me get some useful traction. At the end of the season on bald 255's I had nothing at all in the first 2 gears. Then 3rd the car is gutless.
