Does anyone have the sizes of the FACTORY GT sway bars?

Did they change at all from '05-'09?

What about the Shelby GT Sway Bar sizes?

Thanks!

Don't know the sizes, but for the GT there should only be one option from 05-09. For the Shelby GT they use the FRPP handling pack so the sway bars are different and thicker, much thicker. The GT500 has better bars also, you may want to see if you can find some takeouts.

Stock GT bars: Front--hollow 34mm. Rear--Solid 20mm (Coupes anyway).

GT500 bars: Front--Hollow 34mm, but a thicker wall for slightly more stiffness. Rear 24mm solid.

Shelby GT bars: Front--Hollow 35mm 3 way adjustable. Rear solid 22mm non-adjustable.

Which is why I did my own bars which are Front--Hollow 35mm 3-way adjustable, and Rear Hollow 22mm 3-way adjustable.

Would you happen to know the size of the stock vert bars and what swaybars you would recommend for verts? Another thing, do the GT500 sway bars fit on the GT's?

The front bar is a GT bar, the rear I think is the same the Pony V-6's got and is 18mm....

Will Gt500 fit? Yes. But that rear bar is frankly too much for a GT. Remember a GT500 has a lot of extra weight in the nose that makes for more understeer, and bigger rear tires which also does the same thing. Unless you have a heavy blower and staggered tires the rear bar is, IMHO, too much rear bar.

I use 35/22's on the cars I setup. My rear bar doesn't work on convertibles, so we'd have to look at Eibach. The balance of such a set of bars is very, very good and while 2mm in the rear sounds small it's about 30% stiffer in actuality and that same 22mm rear bar is itself about 60% stiffer than your stock bar. So as you can see, it's not a small change.

Did the sway bars remain the same from 05-09, or did they tweek them at all? Are all sway bars the same on a GT regardless of the year?

Thanks!

If we are talking GT Coupes. Yes. 2010 Track packs have different setups, and GT Converts have a different rear bar (which may or may not have been changed over the years--don't much pay attention to those).

From what I read, the 2010 track packs simply use GT500 bars, struts, shocks, and control arms all from the GT500.

The one I installed on my car last weekend had two holes where the endlinks mount.

RH

Yes, the GT500 front sway bars have two mounting holes on each side,
but the "inner" holes aren't enlarged enough to use. I opened them up a bit and am using those inner holes currently without problems.

I have the GT500 rear sway bar on my GT. Couldn't be more happier. Perfect, OEM fitment but definitely helped out on the turns a lot. No noise either.

I too just installed the GT500 swaybar along with some rear Bullitt springs. I'm very happy with the overall feel of the entire rearend. It's solid on turns and zero noise to boot. Went on in 20 minutes and no issues to speak of.

I can't wait to add some performance shocks and see what that feels like!
