Hey guys new to forum but I just installed a new TCI streetfighter shifter in my 06 GT. Everything works great except the 3rd to 2nd downshift. When I shift down to 2nd it goes to 4th. I can bump it slightly backwards and it goes to 2nd. Any ideas what could be wrong? Yes I had the car in drive when I did the swap. Just don’t know about any other adjustments. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

There is an adjustment for the cable where it mounts to the shifter. It's been a long time since I put mine in but I think it is some kind of plastic coupler with teeth. You gotta loosen it up and slide it in the direction you need to go and then tighten it back down.... I think.

Where did you find one? They are pretty rare.

I found a new old stock one. I paid dearly for it but I can’t get it adjust right. Gonna try again this weekend. If I don’t get it I’m pulling it out and reinstalling my stock shifter so the TCI will go up for sale

I might be interested, but not dearly interested.

The old shifter must be in the Neutral position before you disconnect it. The new shifter must also be in the Neutral position before you reattach the cable.

Instructions said it had to be in drive. All installation vids say the same thing.

Laga I paid $900 for it but like I said it was brand new and they are extremely rare

You are correct. All the instructions say drive. I’m guessing here, but I don’t think it makes much difference as long as the stock and the TCI are in the same position. The stock shifter does have to be in the drive , or near it , for removal of console. IIRC.

Regardless if they are in the same gear when you install it it may need some adjustment. Mine did when I first installed it and later (couple of years) I adjusted it again. But I haven't had to mess with it in over a decade.

I’ve read elsewhere that the 10-12 shifter is the same as the 05-09 shifter except it is slightly longer. A little trimming and a 10-12 trim ring and it should work. I’ve bot been able to confirm this.

Update-: Got under the car and after three attempts at adjustments I got it. Shifts perfect and even seems to be snappier. Thanks for the help guys.

I remember that little adjustment clip was kinda a PIA to reach and manipulate but glad you got it done. Just be wary that in a little while you may have to adjust it again. I think the constant shifting that I did stretched the cable a bit but I had to adjust it after about 20K miles but haven't touched it since.
