Saw a show about these a few years ago. Sometimes the bees win. A hornet will "recon" the area, find the hive and then go back and bring the rest of the nest to the hive. But, the hornet will go in the hive for w/e reason. If the bees react quick enough the hive will swarm the hornet beating their wings at high frequency. That raises the temp and will actually cook the hornet. Recon fail. Crazy shit.
