Am I the only one who frequents this section? if not what are people getting ready to drive with?
44 views and no replies. No one has much to say in regards to drifting and mustangs. Bummer
I'll say it's gay. Will that work for you?
I have sporadically been checking for new info or posts...
yes its is!!!
Not a lot of drifters here. Mostly drag & corner-carvers on this site.
^thats only if you have zero skill and/or are a dumbass
isnt that mustang enthusiasts in general?
Yeah, pretty much. Primarily drag racers. I am one of the oddballs that likes to turn.
Drifting is fun to watch, but I personally don't have any desire to try it myself. Plus, that gif.
Ive found that if you are into road racing or autox you absolutely suck at drifting lol. I think its just because guys/gals are so used to keeping the car planted that getting it to step out and keep it there is foreign and wrong to them.
In all honesty if I had a track close by I think I could get into road racing, but I dont. autox is soooooo boring and drag racing is filled with my dick is bigger bone heads I cant stand it.
drifting is fun, sure, but man, it takes a TOLL on your car. its gets really expensive, really fast. more expensive than autox or weekend drag. corner carvers spend the most in my opinion for the weekend warrior. drag gets ungodly expensive after a point.
it's all expensive.
maybe i'm just a poor bastard. lol
Trust me I know. Ive drifted cars for about 12 years now. It all takes a toll I would even wager that drifting isnt any harder on your car than autox or road racing , well u less you crash that is.
I'd love to try drifting. It looks like crazy fun, but I probably will never give it a shot because it is so hard on your equipment, and honestly, the people I know that drift around here are cocky little pricks that are half my age!
I even bought a used Miata to start doing track days with because I don't want to risk bending my Mustang. I'll autoX with it, but that's it. Definitely no drifting!
I visit this section from time to time. I'm new into drifting, so I really don't have a lot to say. Just read posts and try to learn. I drag raced for a few years and didn't really like the crowd. So far the drifting crowd has been great. I don't know a lot of people, but the ones I have met have been cool.
My missile car is a 240 aka green stripe. I plan on building a mustang as my comp car once I get better and feel like I'm ready to compete. Unfortunately practice events are very limited here.
well kids are indeed cocky but that everywhere and almost all the guys here are also half my age. Why does that matter? I am still a giant kid actually. In my area if it weren't for me and a select few of my friends drifting here would be non existent. We are litterally the OG guys of drifting here. Like I said above Ive been doing it for a long time and I actually run our local events. So cocky kids usually keep their mouth shut here as they all know me and being "old" does little to deter me.
Even though my mustang is nice I am not scared to drive it. I probably wont be cage it or tandem in it in the near future. Keeping those two things out of the equation the car wont see any more wear and tear than a car drag raced, road raced or autocrossed.
Key when you are new is take it slow and learn in something you can mess up. Like anything in life you learn from mistakes.
If you cant get a crap car to learn in open lots with only cones are your friend.
actually you might meet one of our cocky 16 yr old drift kids lol. His pops really does a ton for him and he always goes to vegas to drive. The drifting in Vegas is suppose to be super fun though
He isn't the one with 'thanks dad' on his car is it? Lol I think it was a corolla? It is a good place for drifting (from what I hear), I like the track, but I wish I could practice more. Since I'm so new into drifting idk where where all the Vegas drift guys go to practice outside of the practice events. I heard Forrest has a track at his get nuts shop, but never been there and don't know if it's a invite only thing.
No he is not. He claims he pays for it all and his pops only helps a little. Personally I dont know any 16 year old kid that can afford a truck, enclosed trailer, and a fully built race car on their own dime (shit I cant do it). Good for him really but like most rich brats he doesnt realize how lucky he actually has it. His dad totes him all over to drive. I wish my pops would hook me up lmao. The car is a blue S14 with built SR giant turbo, etc etc. The car is pretty damn ugly now with some gross livery. I will hand it to him though he goes hard and isnt too bad. I give him a pass for being a cocky little shit cause well who wasnt when they were 16?
The get nuts guys do have their own place I see them making videos of it all the time and I could only guess its a friends only type of deal.
Reviving and old thread...
I don't post much, but you can add me to the "occasional drifter" list. I've been lurking and I've only seen a couple guys posting in this section.
