thoughts about shorties??

I'm sure I could dig one up. They pick up no significant power. Neither horsepower or torque.

The stock manifolds flow just as well. The only thing the shorties are good for, is the fact that they do look a hell of a lot better than a rusty old manifold.

Sorry if you didn't want to hear that. But it's the God's honest truth. I wouldn't sell them to a customer. I'd feel like I'm ripping them off.

so again for the 5th time (MAC ST 1 3/4 w/ or- H pipe) vs a smaller dia LT with hi-flow cats will still flow better? haha You guys are going to make me start drinking.. I'm not only talking about the headers.. I'm talking the complete setup.. ahhhhhhhh

Who gives a fuck about flow if it doesnt result in an increase in power?

Or, conversely, the potential amount of "flow increase" does not automatically result in a power increase nor one that has any useful, statistical significance ANYway.

I understand. I "had" JBA shorties..never installed them, I did install JBA long tubes since i planned on the supercharger in advance . I was gung ho on the shorties....till i read about the stock manifolds flowing so well. I didn't mean to step on any toes...sorry.


It doesn't matter.. people are not understanding me in a few threads.. haha

1) people bash clutch because they used the version

2) People say drving in Dr's is fine and great after I show them crash pic's and others that lost control

3) trying to save the OP money on headers since he was giving something that took out the most restrictive thing(cats). Thats what help gives most of the power on LT's..

4) Then I get hammered saying most people dont like chicks with tons of tats.. Forget the fact that Im right.. I'm labeled as ol school and sexest.

I cant win.. haha

13/4 to 15/8 isnt going to mean anything on an n/a engine. You neglect the better balanced flow and scavenging of a long tube.

Fuck "saving money". Do it right the first time, dont spend money twice. You want to "save money", drive a Focus and pick a new hobby.

and how much more hp does your "catted" long tubes provide over my setup(MAC ST 1 3/4 w/ or- H pipe)? I'm sure you tried many setups with extensive testing slick. haha

again, you guys are telling him to dump a setup and no one can seem to prove me wrong. IF this was all about the headers only that is one thing, but with the or/ h pipe that changes things.

My setup works fine and I didnt have to get butt raped for it.

Your boosted. He'll I could block off half of your exhaust and you'd make more power with your shorties. It's been proven for DECADES that long tubes out preform shorties. This is not new, I'm confused as to why youre putting up such a fight over this.

I'm tempted to block half my exhaust thingie but I with my luck something will blow. maybe someone can donate some LT's to me and I will go test it.. =-)

my procharger is so old it has wrinkles on it. =-/ one of the first proto-types and still kicking.. lasted through 3 engines and 2 cars.. haha

My thoughts?

Dont care for shorties.
If you just want sound they are o.k.

If you want performance you are wasting your damn time.
Get some long tubes and maybe some cams too and a tune.
