Is the throw out/slave cylinder supposed to be touching the pressure plate fingers at idle with the pedal up and not in gear or clutch fully engaged? I know on a bunch of the older setups I have worked on (Super T10, Muncie M21 and M22) there was supposed to be a spec'd amount of space where the TO is not in contact at idle but wasn't sure about the hydraulic setups. I read online some do and some don't but wasn't sure about these mustangs.

There is a spring inside the slave that holds the bearing against the clutch fingers.

Other aftermarket slaves [ RAM, Mcleod, TIlton, Quartermaster (looks like the Titon) ] don;t have springs so they wont ride against the fingers as hard.

I am starting to think that is where my squeak http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=121651 is coming from. I know the spacing is critical in these cars and the reason why some aftermarket clutches don't work well and have enough slave cylinder travel reusing stock turned down flywheels (and having to use a spacer behind the slave) but I used all new stuff and should be within factory spec.
