If they denied your warranty claim on a bad transmission because of window tint you'd have a reasonable complaint, but you're talking about window tint and a defroster. It's very likely that there is a cause. Your beef is with the person who tinted the car, not even the dealership, and certainly not Ford.

I used to schedule things like stereos, tint, and sunroofs for a dealership and if you brought your car to me like that I'd be sending you straight to the person who tinted the windows to cover the damage. Now we may do the work, but it will be the tint company who will be picking up the bill, not the dealership and certainly not Ford.

Yah I agree not a Ford problem, its the dealer and more than likely who they contracted it out to.. but seeing as how you bought through dealer, they should take care of you and then fight it out with their contractor. Their contractor will probably cover it if they still do work for the dealer, piss them off for few hundred bucks and lose ton of revenue from ongoing jobs? I doubt it, or they're stupid

Yes, the tint caused it.
Yes, the dealer should be covering it if they are the ones who sold you the tint.
No, it's not Ford's issue.
Yes, if dinging them on their service score is the only way to get satisfaction, then go that route. Hate the game, not the player.

you have to cut through the tint but if you are good with a blade, you can cut right near the line. Permatex was the brand that I used-however that was back in the early 90's, not sure if it is still available.

It is still available.

What part of the tint caused the rear defrost to not work? Was it cut through or is it just assumed the tint caused it? Have they told you what isn't actually working on it and why the tint caused it? I have had 12 cars tinted and never had a problem with the rear defrost not working?

The dealership has its own division that installs spoilers, scoops tint, etc. I have gone to them and they said to bad its not covered. I am expecting a call this afternoon from the manager I spoke with and we'll see how it goes from there.

If no traction, better business bureau

Can happen for sure. For Ford not to cover is just BS especially when they installed the tint

I finally talked with the general manager personally. He called me back the next day and said the new window was on its way and will be here this weekend. It will be put in next week. I still am going to sell the car and if I can figure out how to use this computer for something other than mail and forums I'll put up some pics. I'll probably need a digital camera first though. Thanks everyone for the help. Bill
