So im in the market for a new set of rear tires. Right now im running Nitto NT555s on my 18x10s. The performance is amazing but they only lasted about a year. So, im looking for a set that will last a bit longer. I live in florida so im looking for something with great wet performance. Here's what im considereing (All 275/40/18):

General G-max AS-03 ($202 Each)
BF Goodrich g-Force super sport A/S ($205 Each)
Continental Extreme Contact DWS ($247 Each)

Anyone have experience with these tires or can recommend something for me?

Thanks :thumb:

The Continentals are highly regarded. I almost bought them but went with the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 (don't ask me why it has 3 names) and have been extremely impressed. Dry handling is superb and wet handling is very good as long as you don't get crazy.

The GT500 guys are reporting that the Continentals are very good tires. I'm looking at a pair myself.

Some have overlooked this part.

The Conti DWS is an excellent all-season tire with great grip in the wet, however has an extremely soft sidewall. You can literally fold the sidewall over onto itself with your hand, just something to consider. I am currently using the Conti DW summer performance tire and it is terrific in the wet, plus is has great treadwear.

I vote for the BFG's, but also want to mention there is a tire and wheel section, that I'm betting this will be moved to..

Had the DW's up front, and are currently on rear. Hankook v12's up front now. DW's have great wet and dry traction. Showing very little wear after 9k. But the sidewall feels very soft and has some roll in the turns.

I just went the cheap way and got some goodyear 285-40 F1 supercars, from onlinetires.com for $99.00 each, and they are pretty good. good luck, I know you get what you pay for, but i do not want to pay $1000.00 for a set of tires though!

I have some Conti extreme DW not the dws, and these things are legit. They're on the car for the DD aspect and after 8k miles, barely even look like they've been used.

I like my DW's so far. Only thing I've noticed is they like to tramline at times. Otherwise I really don't have any traction issues on the street. Given I'm only a bolt on 3v with juice but she moves.

You only got a year out of your Nitto 555s!? Did you mean 555Rs instead? Anyways, I've been researching tires for a while now, and I'm going with Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the reviews are off the charts. Look em' up.

I know right, I have 14k miles on my 20" nitto 555's and have had them 2.5 years. And I still have 7-8/32's.

What do you want them for? What is important to you? Ultimate dry grip, cornering, all weather use?

Without that information, any recommendations are pretty useless. Being in Florida, you should likely forget about all season tires as you won't be driving in snow or slush.

My cars a daily driver and I live in florida so im wanting something with good/great wet traction, good dry traction and longer tread life then the 555s. Yeah i only got a year out of the 555s but i drive alot (20k miles this year), and i never roast my tires. And no, they're not the 555Rs. I mean, they're not completely gone, but the tread is getting low, and im starting to have traction problems in wet conditions.

I am running the Gmax on my 2011 now with brembo wheels 275-40 all around, they are a very promising wheel, pretty hard rubber had them for 12k miles and rotate every 3k cant even tell they have been worn. They get plenty of grip when its dry out and are really quiet. With the rain we have been having in florida I can drive the car perfectly, but mash the peddle and well I think any car will get a little loose.
