Who here know what the lockup RPM is for the 5r55s in the V6?
You are confusing "stall" for "lock up". The OP asked what the lock up is. Ford doesn't measure converters in traditional RPM but instead as a K Factor, I would be interested in seeing your source. That is what the tech manuals state for them.
The values are with the Locking Clutch disabled during the testing. So those would be the true stall speeds.
That would also be why there is a locking clutch in the TC controlled by the PCM.
The converter will lock with OD defeated? I would double check that.I know of no way to do it with a tuner. Perhaps someone that writes tunes could answer that.
The PCM controls when it engages but what it uses to make the decision I cant say. My guess is it is some sort of load logic in the PCM.
As far as testing the clutch you disable OD and drive steady around 40-50 mph and tap your brake while watching the Tach.
The Tach will increase slightly and then decrease again. That checks the locking clutch disengaging and engaging.
