Traction control on?

I went to the ford dealer the other day again cause my traction control/abs started going off when I was going from first gear to second gear wot at rev limit, after I went into second my tc light started flashing and abs kicked in. I did not lose grip on tires nor was I sliding in anyway.

When I took it in the ford service guy told me that it was cause too much was going on for the traction control system to handle, and if I am going to drive like that I need to turn off traction control.

Back when I had my 05 I never had an issue with this so all this is new to me.. he told me the traction control system in the 05 is completely different to the 13s, which I can understand.

Basically Im just wondering do I need to turn traction control off if Im driving like an idiot or was the service guy giving me shit answer so they dont have to fix it..

On street tires, IMO, no way u didn't spin at WOT on a 1-2.


But yes turn it off if u r going to drive it like that.

sorry I didnt clarify that part, I did a rather slow shift as I was going uphill on a turn so I was making sure I didnt break the back out..

but thanks for the reply, just wasnt sure if the service tech was just giving me a bunch of bull

I was always told to turn off traction control before agressive driving. Not sure the reason but I thought it had something to do with burning up the clutch discs or something don't quote me on that.

Alright, thanks for the response.. I never had a reason to turn the tc off in my 05..

Hold the brake down and press the Tc for 6-10 seconds to turn everything off. Or hold the brake and press the TC twice to turn on Sport Mode. Just hitting the TC button won't do the trick.

I still burn up the tires with sport mode on. But if I get squirrley around corners it tends to help catch a bit better. But you're right about turning it totally off. No timing retard

Sport mode will toast your rear brakes in a few laps on track, and it's not easy on them during really aggressive street driving either. I either leave it on and drive reasonably (usually because it's raining) or turn it all the way off.

Every once in a while you can freak out the TC/SC on this car in normal driving with no discernible cause. It resets itself and all is well. Sometimes something is actually wrong but not often.

Hooligan driving requires a turn off of all nannies.

I tapped and switched fuse 34 on the internal footwell fuse panel to accomplish this w/o button-pushing every time in the staging lanes. That kills everything, including ABS so, it's really track only.

Haha you should leave your traction control on and program your MyKey to only let you go 45 or so if you're going to drive like that.

Well, looks like I should've read all the way through..

1. It's possible for traction control/advance trac to come on when you can't even hear or feel your tires breaking loose.

2. The traction control/advance trac in these cars is strange. Sometimes it doesnt do much in aggressive driving and sometimes it does.

3. Be careful you aren't hitting the fuel cut-off as well. I think soft cut is around or a little above 6500 RPM. Hard cut should be 7000 RPM.

P.S. - The system in the 05-10 Mustangs is less intrusive and a lot more dumb than the system on the 11+ Mustangs.
