White with blue stripes or blue with white stripes ARE classic Shelby! Personally, a nice red Shelby with matte black stripes or a black Shelby with red stripes would do it for me! Lots of nice color combos though!

I love this thread! I don't own a Coyote but it's a great read while I consider trading my 05 up to something like a Shelby or a Coyote. Great feedback so far! Keep it coming!

My nephew just bought a 50th Ann packaged GT. He just left my house from showing me and I really really like the white. I've always liked Daves GT500.

Is he gonna trade his within a month?

I'm a big fan of white. I think all body styles look good in solid white. Just looks so crisp and clean!

Same here. You could give me the biggest POS MT (MT82) and I'll still take the manual over the auto any day lol. My first Mustang, 2005 GT, was an auto and never again. I pull horrible 60's, but I also get to have fun driving to work and around town. No paddle shifters are going to give me the same feeling.

I'd take a 07-09 GT500 over a 5.0. Personal preference though I just like the 5.4 and 5.8 more.

I researched and hunted between boss mustangs, pre owned 2015's and gt500's

All were around 35k

I wanted a boss which I would later add a turbo since the motor can handle it but would be stuck with the MT82 which couldnt....

I wanted a 2015 because I love the new body style but I knew I wouldnt be happy without some kind of FI, again I would be stuck with the MT82

With the GT500 you get a car that from the factory is built to handle FI. No engine worries or trans worries even with some healthy mods.

On top of all of that even here in Houston where its a dime a dozen to see Shelbys I still get compliments all the time. It's a freaking Shelby it will hold its vaule better/longer and is unique to its own. I didnt really care about that before and I dont want to sound like a badge snob but the whole package does make a difference.

I've seen zero in person. However, I've had a TR6060, in a GT500. And it was a piece of shit.

buddy has a boss 302 with 6,000 miles that makes all sorts of noise and pops out of gear.

another buddy is pushing 800+ horses through his and is on rebuild number 3 (obviously too much power for it)

and another mild bolt on 2013 or 14 that needs a rebuild in my buddies shop currently.

I hated my TR6060 I couldn't shift into second to save my life and it was all sorts of sloppy...Then I installed a MGW gen 2 shifter and its a night a day difference. Hands down best shifting trans I have ever had or been in now.

The factory shifters for the GT500's are terrible so that may or may not have been your problem.

I've always loved the platform of the GT500. Its a built motor, beefy trans right from the factory. How can you argue with that? TVS blower and you have 700hp on pump gas. My vote is for the Shelby!

As somebody that owns a heavily modded Coyote and gets to also drive a modded '08 Shelby (TVS, MGW gen2, Koni Sports, Steeda LCA/UCA), I absolutely would trade for a Shelby in an instant, if I was in the financial position to do so.
I HATE my MT82, and there's an addiction to the 5.4 torque that's hard to describe, especially with a TVS on it and 600+ rwtq

But I'd want an 11+ GT500 since I've gotten spoiled by the new platform's "refinement" compared to the clunkier older chassis, and I like the new interior a lot more.
Plus, the aluminum '11+ block takes 100 lbs off the front-end compared to the '07-'10 cars

Rednek. May have been. But for a $50,000 car, it was a pile of shit. My 2011 has been flawless on the stock shifter. I've been taking it to the dragstrip for 5 years without problems. To each their own. I think the MT82 gets an undeserved bad rap though.

That right there is the one thing I'm worried I'll be disappointed with. I mean, when I had my '08 GT (up until this past Feb.) I was already planning on building the motor and then getting a DD. So part of me was already planning on "being with that interior and ride". But you're right, the interior of my '11 may be something I don't want to part with, but I won't be in any place to grab an '11+ GT500 any time soon.

This is great feedback around three options! My thoughts around the alumninum 5.4 and 5.8 too.

Since I have a 2005, any option is an upgrade! LOL The 07-09s can be found well under $30K and comparing the bang for the buck to a 13/14 GT or an S550, I'd rather have the Shelby. The 11/12 GT500s can be found in the low to mid $30Ks but like Kato, it's not really in my budget right now.

Don't get me wrong fellas, obviously this is a case of "beauty is in the eye of the beerholder", but there are some extremely compelling points that have been made and I am grateful for all the feedback.

Gabe, I value your opinion highly due to the fact that you actually drive them side by side. lol.

I honestly believe I'd be ok with the previous generation interior. I've never had NAV and don't really see a need for it. An upgraded head unit would offer BlueTooth. I rarely jam the stereo since I prefer hearing the car on my commute anyways.

I just bought this car in February, so I'll give it some time, and then I'll start the hunt for a Shelby.

That's me. But I think everyone speaks from their own perspective. My MT82 has been flawless for countless track passes and 35,000 miles of ownership. My TR6060 in my 2010 GT500 was a rough shifting, locking out piece of shit for the whopping 3800 miles I owned it. Just personal experience. Like I said, everyone speaks from experience. And my MT82 has been the best manual transmission I've ever had. I've had them all, save for a T5 because I never owned a fox..
