What can cause a 3650 to not go into gear when its running, but you can put it in gear with the car off, start it and it roll off? A buddy of mine had a problem at the track yesterday, and his tranny won't go into any gears running, but if he shuts it off, it will go in gear. He can clutch in, start it and it'll take off. He has a Fidanza 4.3 clutch and alum flywheel. Clutch pedal pressure if fine, its just like the clutch will not disengage. Its in an 07 s281sc

bump for some help. Car has like 20,000 miles on it, and isn't abused other than maybe 5 runs at the strip.

How could the clutch have gotten warped? It has maybe 3000 miles on it, was broke in properly. He wasn't slipping it at the track or anything... I dunno what happened. He was doing a burnout (linelock) and started getting a bit of one wheel peel so I got his attention. When he clutched in, the car just died, and thats when all this started. Fidanza said the clutch was supposed to hold 750ftlbs...guess that was bullshit lol

so the clutch was slipping when he was doing the burnout? I'm just trying to figure out how it overheated and warped. The tires were spinning, and then one wheel peel, so thats when I got him to shut it down so the posi wouldnt burn up. I'm not arguing with y'all, and I was hoping Ron would chime in since he seems to have had every problem possible with these cars. Thats some bullshit if it really is the clutch since it only has maybe 3-4000 miles on it at most. The car doesnt get beat on a whole lot either like i said previously.

This is what happened to me
Bad news. I cannot shift the car at all when it is turned on. It shifts perfectly when the car is not running but when the car is on its like hitting a wall in all 6 forward gears and reverse.

I can shift it if i match rpms and engine speed when the car is running. My clutch pedal feels as firm as ever, brakes are perfect, and I have not lost any fluid, not an ounce...

When in gear, even with the clutch to the floor, the car drives on its own. It never ends.......
the situation described above matches it perfectly. I replaced my clutch and slave and things are perfect again. i only replaced the slave because i had the tranny out. since i still had pedal pressure we know the slave wasn't the problem.
