So get some manuals and have at it. You don't really have to understand exactly what everything is and what it does, it's all in the clearances and cleanliness.

I have not done a 4r70w, but I did my own c4, and did a 700r4 also.. You just have to willing to take your time and triple check everything..

If I had a lift it would be a no brainer, but on the floor twice, IDK (41 yrs old). I think I will let this lesson be taught the first time on this one. This like any most other sports is an expensive hobby. The key is being able to do the work your self and keep the cost down. IMO

You are with your trans where I was: the one part of the car not yet torn into, and a little apprehensive about it.

Take a look at various youtube videos, there's some pretty good ones out there. But once you watch them, you'll be like "shit, let me at it...NOW! Once you do it, you'll kick yourself for not trying it sooner.

Tanner's help rebuilding mine really made the whole process reasonable and fairly simple; of course he knew what to do and had a couple special tools to make certain steps easier.

And fwiw, I keep o/d off at the track at all time, even when slowing down or driving around.

If your rear seal is still leaking and you want to borrow the seal installer and removal tools, let me know. Makes working with the seal and slinger child's play.

I was so busy today and didnt even have time to call Tanner. I will be in touch tomorrow though. I am most likley going to get my buddy at the dealer to do it though since Dallas is my local work area and I am there every day. Simpley thinking logistics here and all the parts and tools are on hand and at my disposal. I would love to get some input from Tanner though.

Also as I push further with the car Im sure this will not be the last time I am in the trans.

And thanks for the thought on the rear seal tools, I have access to them, I just never used them. LOL

Trans. is out, going to my buddy in Dallas tomorrow to drop it off and get the tools to install the new rear main seal. Not that that was that issue. I will post the issue with the oil leak in my other thread.

Update:

The trans is torn down. It has Alto reds in it and a lot of work done to it. The clutches all look new I am told and it will need a reverse drum and band along with a O/D band. I was told the O/D band is completely gone. I guess since Lentech uses there Rev/Third Technology that would explain the rev stuff. Either way the damage looks minimal and I glad I removed it fast and didn't make anymore passes on it. New parts should go in Fri. and I hope to get it back in this weekend and be back at the track the week after.

Looks like this one is on me for the O/D shift at 7150 to many times. From now on I will be lifting only to bring the revs down. I also have the rev limit at 7800 now so I wont have to worry about hitting it.

Glad to hear you got it sorted out, with minimal damage. Now put the OD switch in the trunk.

At 2500 and it flashes to about 4000 on the foot brake for now. It seems if I try to launch harder my 60 ft suffers.

Wow,you are powering through the converter.Your converter stall is rated at 3800 correct.

After a pass I put mine into neutral then once I've slowed down a bit I go back into third.

Dysan how's it going? Long time no talk.Shifting into neutral at the stripe is really dangerous, you could engage reverse.
I was taught not to do this at Frank Hawley's school.
Power glides were bad for engaging reverse when pushing into neutral, even with a reverse lockout lever.
Just leave it in 3rd Dysan,I would hate to see you have a accident.
Talk soon, say hi to Paul for me.

That's why I leave it in 3rd. Even though I have a wratchet shifter and it'd be hard to get into reverse, if something happened and it did get into reverse, it would be very bad. I'd rather be a little harder on the engine and trans and slow down a bit in 3rd.

Hey Randy, how's it going?
How's ur trans holding up?
Mine still is holding up strong and I have not touched it since Len built it. (Knock on wood).
I always had this in my mind happening if shifting into neutral after the run. I always thought what if it slips in reverse by accident.
That info seals the deal for me...

Hey Randy......I have a 4r70W with the ratchet shifter...no glide in my car. I just hate having it stay up in the rpms the entire time I'm slowing down after a run. I'll keep your suggestion in mind though as it does make sense, I'm just following what the guy who built my new engine does in his dragster. The reverse pull when you let off is what is damaging to the rods and I'm just trying to reduce that stress on the engine.

Yea I'm racing locally. I do the 10.0 index race here at Atco.
Once I get myself a trailer, I can start going further away.

Yes, it was suposed to be a 3800.

are you flushing or replacing the cooler?

Flushing both of them and the lines. Just haven't decided on what solvent to use yet. I was thinking to just use fresh fluid. Any recommendations there?

The converter and trans will be clean and ready for install when I pick them up.
