Wow,you are powering through the converter.Your converter stall is rated at 3800 correct.
Yes, it was suposed to be a 3800.

Flushing both of them and the lines. Just haven't decided on what solvent to use yet. I was thinking to just use fresh fluid. Any recommendations there?

The converter and trans will be clean and ready for install when I pick them up.

Did Len supply the converter??

Yea I'm racing locally. I do the 10.0 index race here at Atco.
Once I get myself a trailer, I can start going further away.

Good for you, heads up racing is a blast. We will have to re connect at a track someday.

Yes,when I had street tires on all 4 corners.

With my slicks & skinnies on, foot braking, the front tires get pushed/skate.
I use my transbrake to launch all the time.

That's what mine do now at about 2500 with the street tires on the front and DRs on the back. I am reviewing my brake setup currently though. I plan to use the TB once my skinnies go on.

I don't think there is anything you can do other than lower your rpm when foot braking. We are making to much torque, the rear tires will break loose & push you through the beams with the front brakes locked up!!

Got the trans back today! First off let me say this was a user error failure. I was engaging the O/D at a high rpm which put a lot of stress on the O/D band as well as the reverse drum and the only thing I fault Lentech with is that there was supposed to be a red lined O/D band in the trans and it turned out to be a standard OEM band. Not that it would have lasted much longer but that is what was found. Actually all the clutches and most of the parts where all in very good shape. From what my buddy told me the issue was the O/D bad was worn down to the rivets and was making contact with the reverse drum and that debris is what was making a couple valves stick in the valve body and that is what I was feeling. Everything is redone and cleaned up and ready for install. There was other things replaced as well do to the fact that they were at the top of the spec but I am working with a 18 yr fac tech here so they were replaced as well. All in all it was $252.00 for the parts and $250.00 labor so for $502.00 I will take it as a lesson learned. Here are a few pics.

$500 isn't that much for a lesson learned. Glad you will be getting it back together soon, looking froward to the big boost times.

Glad to hear it wasn't "expensive" in the grand scheme of things.

By the way, if you could possibly either post up or PM part #'s for the good bands I would appreciate it. I plan on having my friend tear down my trans next winter and doing a full service on it so I'd like to make sure I put good clutches in mine. My trans was supposed to be a lentech but I am doubtful since it doesn't have the riveted on ID plate that they are supposed to have.

I'm not sure about the aftermarket bands like I said mine are Ford parts. The clutches how ever are the Alto Red clutches. I think with a well built 4r70w, Alto Red clutches, and a Lentech VB, you would have the same trans as I do.

Good deal! Really great of you to be honest about the lesson learned. Sometimes that's how we learn when we really start pushing the envelope on a performance car. I think you may have seen my thread on the Bullet about my similar problem with my PA 4R70 that I believe I caused from lack of knowledge on the tranny. In the grand scheme of things $500 isn't to bad for an education.....lol

Cool. Thanks.

Hopefully the internals are good in my trans. Look forward to seeing some new times and vids from you once you hit the track again!

FWIW, my Lentech tag is adhered to the case and not riveted. One way to tell is the tail housing is different then what should be on the trans. The tail housing used by Lentech is longer and the output shaft will not stick out of the tail shaft. They use the longer housing so the rear bushing is back further to add more support to the trans yoke. Just one thing off the top of my head.

Also, does yours have the grey/green coating on it?

It does sort of have a gray/green coating and I also believe the output shaft is not sticking out but is just below the dust seal on the tail shaft. I unfortunately don't have a good picture of the trans but if you look in the lower left of this picture you can see the color of my trans when it was on the floor next to my engine.

Do you have a trans brake?
