quick question:
i have a trans hose loose. looks like a vent possibly. it's located on the top of the trans and looks like it has a plastic connector broken off inside the rubber hose. one side hooks somewhere on the top of the trans in the back but can't tell where the other side is supposed to hook. maybe in the front on the top.
anyone know what this actually is or where it goes. i'm getting some trans fluid spewing out after runs.

You may not have a loose hose. The hose goes to the vent connector in the top middle of the front of the trans housing. Its a pain in the ass to remove. If you look on the passenger side from the engine you will see the connector on the top. I would suggest ordering a trans catch can from JDM comes with everything you need. Just getting the factory connector in the supplied hose was a bitch. Very tight.

Bingo! I'm making a catch can this week but I'm having a hell of a time finding SS 3/8" barbed fittings. Is fuel line ok for ATF?

thanks for the info guys. i guess it broke off the bell housing when swapping engines. i'll make up a catch can this week. i've always had a little blow-off but i guess since the hose was hanging down it just blew all over the place.

You should be ok with any hose that is approved for petroleums.

Have you tried checking a hardware store for the barb you are looking for? I looked all over town for barbs back when I relocated my PS reservoir and finally went to an old neighborhood type hardware store and they everything you could possibly imagine there. Might also try a hydraulic hose supply company.

advanced auot has them in steel and plastic. i had to find them(barbs) cause the brain surgeons that work there don't have a clue as to what's in their inventory. found a neat little stainless tank about 8oz. and have a mr gasket breather element that fits right on it. i'll drill a hole put a grommet in for an inlet and it should look nice. a little bigger than what i need but it looks cool.

See the Top left corner, thats the fitting look at the casting and you will see the fluid drains out the left side

Very interesting, thanks for your input and I know JDM makes some very high quality products. However I am more of a DIY guy and want to make my own just for shits and giggles.

So back to my original question, does anyone know what the inside diameter (ID) of this hose is?

Thanks...
Mine is 7/16 ID and 5/8 OD. It is a JDM setup.

I wouldn't expect you to do that, I would pull mine but it has been raining for 3 straight days.

But thanks...
i'm with ya the rain just won't stop.
i used a 3\8" connector on it and seemed to fit fine but i did have to cut off the end of the hose cause the factory plastic nipple was broke off in there.
i saw jimIII's trans vent a while back and it's very nice. recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to hassle with making the kit.

I like to make things to keep myself ammused, some stuff comes out pretty decent and the rest is at the landfill.

Did you block off the now exposed hole going into the top of the bell housing?

Yeah the NVMC had to postpone tomorrows event because of the rain. Maybe it's time to get rid of the Mustangs and build an Arc.

Had my SpyderShaft 2 years BTW, great investment :thumb:
