I hope I am posting this in the correct forum.
About a year ago I order from American Muscle a axle back, Pypes off road X pipe and Bama SCT Tuner. I got the car flashed to remove the check engine light that would appear for it. I recently went to go do my emissions test and the car failed due to multiple "Not Ready" readings in their test. I went to my mechanic and he recommended contacting Bama as it looked like too many things were "Turned Off" ?? in the tune they sent me preventing me from passing emissions. I contacted Bama/AM muscle about this and they basically told me they could not help me on this?!!?

From what I can see so far my only options on this is to find the factory h pipe, install it and flash the car back to stock. Would getting something like the BBK Catted X Pipe and flashing it back to stock work as well? Any other options/help would really be appreciated. Thank you!!

It’s likely a tune issue.

Search the board? This has come up a lot

If the midpipe is the only thing done to the car, the easiest thing to do would be going back to the stock h pipe and loading the stock tune for emissions. This becomes more difficult as you do more mods to the car. Also there was an article about SCT making it unavailable for tuning devices to turn off or disable emissions controls so Bama may not be able to help.

If your device still has the firmware from before SCT made this announcement, and you hire a tuner overseas (Lito), you might be able to get around this.

One of my first postings on this site was about talking with a Ford software guy in Detroit about tuners. As a result, I was tagged as crazy. His main bitch was nerdy software guys riding bicycles to work simply turning off things that Ford spent time and money to install to protect the engine so they can collect their $100. One of the biggest things he bitched about was turning off the knock sensors and spiking the timing then make Ford pay for the engine. I am glad the chickens are now coming home to roost.

Because the catalytic converters are removed, the rear O2 sensor are turned off in the tune. This prevents the catalyst monitor and 02 monitors from completing. You are likely allowed to have ONE monitor "not ready" and pass, but I believe you have 3 of 8 in "not ready" state = Fail test.

You have to have the disabled items re-enabled in the tune for the monitors to run. Return to stock will do that, but now you will have the check engine light back on for the converters. An aftermarket catted H or X pipe should work or use one of the methods to trick the rear O2 sensors. (search it)

If I were to get a aftermarket catted X or H pipe I would still have to flash it back to stock correct?
Thanks for the replies guys!

Your McTune is the problem. So yes, you either need to return to stock or get a real tune. Preferably one not ordered off the dollar value menu.

Yes, back to stock. Must turn the stuff back on in the computer.

I have bbk catted x pipe on my 2010 gt with stock tune and no check engine light. Plus this x pipe will make your car really loud.

This nonsense has zero to do with this post and is 100% unrelated to emissions

Reinstall the factory H pipe and have Lito make you a tune, sell the off-road pipe and love your newfound power from your car guilt free

I run with no cats and the rear sensors turned on. I have passed OBDII smog inspections twice now with them. They are mini cats for the sensors. http://www.bigdaddiesgarage.com/mini-cat-cel-fix.html

I had to get the angles ones because of my sensor location but they work.
This method wont work in some states. If they have to do a visual check before the OBD II scan, like here in PA missing/deleted cats = Fail.

AZ doesn’t care. They just check the fuel cap or cap less fuel vent and plug in to th OBDII port. As long as that comes back without errors, you pass.

Hi don't known if this helps but I live in AZ too and I have to remove my 93 tune just before going to do emissions and install my stock tune & then reinstall my 93 tune after leaving emissions. You may have ot do the same as long as you live in AZ.
