Trunk release issues

I'm having trouble wiring my trunk release button and need some help. It's the SHR one and I did everything the directions said to do and... nothing, nothing happened lol If someone could post pics of what there's looks like wired up that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tap one wire and find a good ground. Double check your connections.

Multiple wires were tapped in an effort to find the right one. From what I could see there was only 2 good grounds in the glove box area. I could only use one due to where I drilled the hole. The button is in on the left side of the glove box and there was already a wire grounded in so I figured it would be a good one. Everything was double checked.

In order to determine whether the problem is in the button or if you just tapped the wrong wire, go to where you tapped the wire and just ground it to the frame to see if the trunk opens. If it works then you tapped the correct wire and the problem is in the button or your installation. If it doesn't work then you tapped the wrong wire.

Seems like you made this a little more difficult than it needed? Sorry dont have any pictures install took literaly 5 mins for me. I think it was pink wire but who knows installed it many many years ago.

I think I used the pink wire too, but it's been awhile.

+1 on grounding the wire manually.

OP - I just installed one of these two weekends ago. You are looking for the white wire the pink stripe, but there are at least THREE of those in the wire loom, possibly four. Temporarily ground the button to a known good source, then tap into each of the white/pink wires and hit the switch. One of them will work. Then permanently mount your switch and run your wires.

I tried multiple grounds and multiple different wires with a pink/white or white/pink combo and still got nothing. Is there a chance it may be a lemon? I'm not mechanically challenged and feel like it shouldn't be this difficult.

If you ground out the white/pink wire and the trunk doesn't open, then you don't have the right wire. The switch is fine but you need to attach it to the correct wire first.

If you have an 05-09 Mustang, open the deck lid, pull off the plastic cover that is attached and disconnect the trunk release wire harness. Follow the harness to the union plug, you will see the white wire/pink stripe. This wire follows under the passenger side door sill, up to the junction box. You can tap into this wire anywhere along it's route to the junction box. I believe it is a 14g wire. Once it is grounded, the trunk release will trigger (after you re-connect the harness!)
It really is a simple install. You may just be using the wrong trigger wire. and it has to be in the harness that comes from the right rear of the car, before it enters the junction box. Good luck!

When I did mine, I tapped in under the passenger sill. I only remember there being one white/pink wire there.

Do you own a multimeter? Do a continuity test. If you don't own one, buy one and learn to use it.
