Talked to a good friend this weekend and he mentioned to me that there is a TSB for the sound tube affecting driveability on the new 2011 5.0 GT. It seems that it is somehow affecting the MAF. I have yet to confirm this for myself or find the TSB but just wanted to put it out there for those that might be experiencing that problem. He also mentioned that the fix is a recalibration.

brings the sound of the intake and engine into the cabin as they claim the car is so quiet inside you lose the experience of hearing the motor

Delete them, like I did the first week I owned my car.

pics? and what all did you have to do? i think that thing is pointless..maybe they should have put a louder exhaust on it instead of some ricer boy like tube incase i forget im driving a 5.0 or something... really??

I think the same guys who invented the sound tube should have also beta tested the "exhaust tube" in a sealed car:roflmao:

I haven't messed with it yet, but you can take out the diaphragm in there and it is supposed to be much louder, saw a vid on youtube of it. That is, if you like it of course.

From inside the car, you can see where it enters to the top/left of the clutch pedal. You can also see a grey sponge in it at that point -- pull that sponge out with a set of needle nose pliers, and the sound increases 3x, particularly at WOT.

That said, I prefer a louder exhaust over this tube, but it ain't all that bad.

i havent really heard mine.. i think i will take that sponge out and see how much louder it gets though. but if that sponge is removed wont that let dirty air in? i would think that the sponge is a filter somewhat in this application?

I plugged the tube at the clamp on the tube between the MAF and the throttle body. The noise was needless and annoying. The drive ability wasn't effected at all. I will eventually remove the entire contraption.

I'm surprised there is so much hate towards this. That induction tube I think is a great idea. Allows the "good" noise in when you're WOT and keeps the cabin quiet when you're cruising. Great for those of us that commute with the car. Plus I get more engine sounds without having to alert the cops 3 miles away with an exhaust system that is too loud. Some of us aren't 18 anymore. ;)

It doesn't affect driveability and the tube is attached after its been filtered. I've seen some people puill the stuffing out and it does sound great but with just a smidge of more road noise.

is it a bad idea to pull that sponge out though? i want to pull it out to see what it sounds like and to see if i like the extra noise (and i probably will) but im concerned that the sponge that is there is acting as a filter to keep funk out of that tube from the cabin/carpet etc since the tube connects into the intake AFTER the air filter. ? ?
