Do I need to permanently modify the dash harness? Could I make a harness that plugs into the oem plug that can connect to the unit?

I was talking with o2sys last night and he gave me this link. Just plug and play. You have a Shaker 500, right?

I found all this stuff on Amazon for $531 shipped or Sonicelectronix for $515. All harnesses, dash kit, and adapters. Much better than Crutchfields price.

You'll be fine with the HU. You swapped a 5.4 into your car, you can handle a radio!

yeah just a standard shaker 500.

I only ask because I've never put an aftermarket HU in a car. The audio stuff isn't for me, since I can't tell the difference between a really nice system and a mid-grade one. Hell the sound system in my 96 F250 sounds fantastic to me LOL

I'm the same way. I only want a new HU just for Nav and bluetooth. I would prefer a factory HU, but no bluetooth. The hardest part about installing a HU is taking the interior apart. Aside from that, this kit looks even easier than others I've installed. The only thing stopping me from ordering this today is I want to make sure it won't have any issues with the iPhone 6.

Good point. I like the configurability of the Parrot, but I've always been a sucker for how that App Radio looks.

Not a fan of how it doesn't sit flush. The Parrot looks like it sits flush.

Pic is huge in the first link.

That looks pretty nice. I can't find any pics of one installed. I also can't figure out if you need a phone for Nav. With the Parrot you don't need a phone in the car for nav. Not like my phone isn't always on me, but you never know. The price point on the Appradio 3 is really nice too. About $130 less on Amazon for the full set up.

I can't either. Im not what you call an audiophile.

But do notice the big differences. And the Parrot made a big difference in bass with my shaker 500.

Also if you get the metra harness you dont hack the stock wiring.

All my mods that I do I like them to be serviceable and reversible.

That's how I am. I may try this HU out and keep my Shaker 500 just in case I decide to go back.

I wish DIN's fit perfectly though and I didn't have to use the spacer. Lol

Metra or other brand harness both are plug and play to the OEM connector behind the dash. The harness you buy will get spliced into the new radio harness. Thus, all factory wiring is not modified.

Just buy the correct Metra harness(es) for your car. Second one is needed for the amps along with a resistor.

Did you need any other harnesses aside from this one?

what about the sirius antenna? can you just plug your standard box in or you need an entirely different antenna? or do these even have sirius? I know the App Radio doesnt.
