unstable hood

ive had my hood for a while now and i tend to notice that goin about 50+ it starts shaking, so i bought some hood pins and took it to a highly respectable bodyshop, he told me that he could do it but being fiberglass,and a daily driver it leaves room for cracking and could eventually comprimise the integrity of the hood, so he moved the latch further down to sturdy up the hood but it still shakes anyone have this problem before? Im running the Cervinis 2.5 cowl induction hood.

I would talk with cervinis about that. I have a cervinis hood and i've been up to 130 with it and it doesn't budge at all.

so hood pins did solve that? me n a friend was on the highway and i got on it and the hood seemed like it was goin to fly off thats how severe my hood shakes, of course i rarely go above 80!

Not sure if these work with an aftermarket hood but it should save you from having to drill right through.

Yep, those are the ones I used. I had to shape the hole that the pin went into cause of the slope of the hood. My hood was jumping up and down at the corners. Installed these pins and no more hood shake.

My factory hood shook badly at speed, and raising the factory rubber snubbers didn't cure it, so I installed Shelby non-logo billet hood pins (which look identical to those shown by BBR above, I might add). Shake is gone.

Those BBR hood pins look a lot like Scott-Drake hood pins...

I absolutely hate hood pins. But if I just had to have them then I would go for either something like the WMS setup, or a twist lock, or key lock setup. Just so I wouldn't have that gawd awful clip and cable contraption hanging on my car.

Close... but our BBR hood pins are $50 cheaper and made from a premium quality billet

I run the stock hood and have been 140+ with no vibrations at all. Sure there isnt an issue with the latch that holds the hood down.

Yes... Hood pins fix that shake on all the hoods.

When I owned my 05, the hood only shook passed 100 mph.

yea thats about when mine shakes but at 120 it gets really bad. i switched cars with my friend and raced my car and at 120 it looked like you could stick your hand under the hood on the side. i know its not going to come up but i dont like it and want to get rid of it.

mine around 100 and above looks like it is going to come see what the drivers view looks like.if it flies up then i have a reason to buy a cowl hood and get my car re painted thus fixing the rock chips in the process LOL

Not to be picky, but I ordered mine Shelby pins directly from SAI and paid just $19 more than the price for the BBR's listed about. That's hardly a $50 difference. Also, the ones I bought are billet, and have been great quality, so I'm unsure how BBR's are any different (read: better).

Fixed my stock hood. I've been over 130 mph plenty of times - closed course, professional driver with no more shake.
