What a day!!! I stay in port mansfield, TX to go fishing in the early morning. What a great day caught 8 trout at 20 inches +. I get back to the motel that we stayed at for the night and find out that my cars been hit!! while parked. This motel is frickin slow too, maybe a max of 10 cars. Only one row of parking and my car gets hit?!! You would probably think that my car would of got hit in rear bumper. Thats where your wrong. that car was hit behind the drivers door right before the gas cap. Hit and run enough said. There are some scrapes and a some what of a big dent can anyone imagine how much I might be set back? I notice that the panel is very big to be replaced and I really hope that it doesnt just get fix by popping it out. I really want it to be replaced!

Okay rant off!

I talked to the managment there and they said that they do not have any cameras. I believe it because its just some mom and pop place. I asked if we could get the names of people who checked out that day and said that she wasnt able to do that. We didnt have much time to stay there though we had to meet some people in South Padre Island. Veryyy sad.

You can file a report on your insurance..would be considered a hit and run and only be responsibile for your deductible. Did you take any pictures of your car at the scene where it happened? That would be great if you did.

They shouldnt BS you around, but also a police report would have been the best. I would call them asap though so there isnt a delay

Sorry about your car but hold up. 8 trout over 20 inches in one day ? I'm assuming you're talking about sea trout. If not, I want to know this place!

You should still be able to get your insurance company to work with you, even without a police report. But man, that sucks. Just another irresponsible thief IMO. Should be shot on site.

I had a similar incident. A trainer for the sports teams at my school nailed my old s197 v6 right behind the gas door. Scraped up the whole rear quarter panel.
She did the right thing and asked around immediately and found me within an hour. She told me that she preferred to settle outside of insurance.
I got a quote for $800to fix it (my mechanic and body shop guy is a family friend) but when i told her $800 she accused me of lying and said (and I quote) "My dad say's you're ripping me off and trying to make money off me!" (keep in mind this is a 25yo+ woman who lives on her own ((her dad lived in Texas)) and works for a fucking college).
Well I wasn't trying to rip them off at all... but they insisted I get it appraised by their insurance. Their insurance called me, I gave them my shop's name, and they sent an appraiser.... who consequently appraised the damage at $1600.
We ended up getting some dents in my dad's Challenger repaired for free :)

Just to give you an idea of how much the damage MIGHT cost.

I would think that if you filed a police report that they would be able to get the info from the front desk.

Take it to Lunquist paint and body or Champion Collision here in town. Just depending on how bad it is depends if they really need to replace that whole panel. Keep in mind how big that panel is too. Its the whole rear quarter plus runs over the drivers door. I know most of the body shops won't take the time and will use a sealer to hold it together. If your insurance is willing to pay the money to have it replaced then come see me at 4 Wheel Specialties and I'll set you up with Andy right behind us. He will do the spot welds like they come from the factory. I have seen him do some amazing work but he is kinda pricey. You get what you pay for ya know. Good luck with whatever happens and sucks to hear about the ride. I've been there before but the guy who backed into me got arrested lol

Sorry to hear ayabrego. Hope you get it worked out.

acrophobia, some people always think things should be cheaper than what it really is. I had a similar story as yours. Back in 2000, my buddy backed into my car (I'm not going say what car since this is a Mustang site :beerdrink:), left a deep quarter sized dent right under my gas cap. Well, my dad happened to be a Body Shop Manager, so my dad wrote a quick quote of $150 to repair it just to give my buddy an idea of what it may cost. My buddy was pissed, so at the time there was a new local place who specialized in paintless dent repair. He insisted we go there and get it fixed for $40. The guy said it was too deep, but he could try it, but it won't come out perfect for the low cost of $250........I laughed so hard at my buddy. He said F-it and handed me $150 cash right there.

A little update. Rear panel was fixed and looks good as a added bonus the front bumper is being re painted! I am kinda glad she took a hit!
