Visiting Florida This Week ... Where is the Drag Racing

Like the title says I'm going to be in Florida this week would like to check out some drag racing. Weekend or otherwise, where is the most active track?

East Central ... cousin in Merrit Island, however I'm vacationing so I not real concerned with location (save Miami) not that far. I plan on checking out the Gulf side as I have never been over there ... Long story short I fly by the seat of my pants and go where I want when I want

there is Orlando speed world,if your going to the west coast there is Bradenton, on the way to the tampa area ( and I do mean on the way, its off of I-4 which you will most likely be on going to Gulf side) there is an 1/8 m. track at Lakeland speedway. hope this helps you out, what else you going to do while here?

I "think" Orlando speed world has Wed.night drags still.

Open for suggestions ... nothing set in stone ... I freewheel while vacationing.

Bradenton is past Tampa on I-75.

Palm beach raceway (old Moroso) is not to far, maybe a couple hours drive from Orlando.

Orlando Speedworld is usually a waste of time. They rarely prep the track for test n tune nights. I'd bring your own VHT if you're going to even bother going.

Bradenton is the best track in Florida. IMO.

Too bad, you're just gonna miss a Space Shuttle launch by a few days. The next one is on May 11 or 12.

Well the wife and I made it down, but, got sooo sunburnt on Saturday that we never made it out to the track ... barely made it to dinner! Had fun though. Maybe next trip. Thanks for all the suggestions. Dont think I would have had much fun trying to bracket race out Toyota Corolla rental car.

Saturday we have our Heads Up Madness race at Sunshine Dragway located in Clearwater...starts around 5:00 1/8 mile, some fast radial cars and Real Street cars as well as Pro mods, Outlaw 10.5
