I was driving normally and my traction control light just came on (flashing) out of the blue and the car felt like it wanted to die. It did this for about 15 seconds or so and then stopped. Anyone have this happen to them?

Did you drive through a puddle of slimy stuff, like diesel fuel?

This happened to me once right after I filled my car up. I had driven through a puddle of spilled fuel, and it was enough to make the rear tires slippery and cause the traction control to wig out.

mine did it once. about 2months ago and i had gone to the gas station and filled up, left and i had to do a u-turn to go home and as i got to about 30mph the car kinda nosed over and a light flashed but i think it was the stability control light because it wasn't the same light that comes on when you turn the t/c off or when it spins bad and it's still on. i would have to go out and look at the cluster and check the owners manual to know exactly what light it was. it hasn't done it since, even trying to make it happen again, so i haven't worried about it. to the op are you positive it was the t/c light and not the other one. i want to know now so i'm going to go look. thats what mine did, nosed over and then after a few seconds it was ok

Was it hot out? Mine did that on hot tar - it was like driving on Ice -car started to slide on a sunny day on what I thought were dry roads, power came way down and the light started flashing.

The city of Indianapolis decided to put tar on all the cracked roads and in some places the patches of tar are 2' wide in places were the asphalt should have been cut-out and replaced. I can't blame the city workers but they should have thought about 90 degree days and what 1/4" thick tar patches might do. I guess they are trying to "save" the asphalt for a few more years so they don't have to repave.

Mine did that a while back. Just filled up at the gas station and was cruising about 40 mph when it did it. Lasted about 5 - 10 seconds, then stopped. Hasn't happened again.

Notice that several people have commented that it happened after visiting a gas station. I believe this is caused by getting something slippery on your tires (diesel fuel, leaked engine oil, etc).

Mine did it once when I first got the car. The ESC/TC pulled a fault and kicked my dash lights on. I pulled over, shut the car off, restarted, and havent had it happen again
