I believe these engines run out of steam at about 5800rpm. So 6k+ shifts sound a bit high?

Do yawl think I should be launching at higher RPMs or do I need taller, stickier tires before i try that? It really seems like I could reach farther into the rpm range when launching, traction has never been a problem since I got the nittos, but I know there are better tires.

I'm not sure how tall your tire is now but with 4:10s at our power level I wouldn't go any taller than a 26 inch tall tire.

Mabey someone else could chime in on this but when I ran in florida a month ago my car would only trap @107 and when I got home in Indiana my trap speed went back up to 112mph.

I'd say we're at the same power level just different air, temp and altitude

Thanks for all of the help. I'll start power shifting and hitting more test and tune nights. Hopefully I'll get the times down a little. Thinking back, i was going against challenger SRTs that were dialed in at 13.00. So a small fraction may be the local climate.

Here are my thoughts after reading through the thread.

1) even though the altitude is only 650, which isn't bad, a high humidity can really increase the DA, which will effect ET/MPH.

2) If you look at the ET spreadsheet here: http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5218 You will notice that most people trapping around 104-105 mph are turning very low 13.1Xs or so., but also notice their 60' times are in the 1.9X range. You have a not to bad 1.8X 60' time, so it could be you just need to be more aggressive shifting. But at your power level, I think a 1.8X 60' time isn't that bad--its actually pretty good.

3) One way to see if the car is laying down is to compare your 1/8th mph to your 1/4 mph. You are at 22 mph---most cars in your ET range, N/A average about the same 22-23 mph---so the good news is it doesn't look like the car is pulling timing or getting heat soaked or anything like that.

i agree...with psfracer...if you have 4.10's, stick with a 26" tall tire. i have 4.56's and still run a 26" tall tire. if you've got a 5m (manual tranny), imho bias ply et streets are a better choice than drag radials. the sweet spot for launching (at least in my experience) is a lot wider. with a harder launch, bias ply streets, front sway bar removal, i think you could see 12.8's or 12.7's. but you gotta powershift!

I went with UMI single adjustable LCAs.

PSFRACER: that's all good news, I'll focus on shifting more aggressively and see how much I can pick up. Although my times seem slow, they do still fall in line with other cars at the local track. I just started getting concerned seeing consistent postings of similarly modded cars almost going a full second faster. Sometimes I forget to take humidity into consideration since it's always so humid.

Rojizostang: seems the general consensus is for me to start powershifting, so that is first on my list. I found that I need to go slow with the way I change things up with drag racing. If I go up to the line with more than one or two things to change, I usually don't end up doing any of them once the lights start counting down.

Hopefully the shifting and LCAs make a notable difference. If not inwill certainly start looking at bias ply tires based on your recommendation.

Thanks again everyone for the help. I greatly appreciate it.

No that's a myth, you shift higher to be in the better part of the powerband for the next gear.
My engine doesn't stop making HP till 6200 then it slowly goes down maybe 5-8hp till I shift at 6500.
Just because you're done making HP doesn't mean it's time to shift.
