Punched out my cats. The passenger side was almost completely blown out so I just knocked out the other side. Sounds pretty good actually

If you can, drill or air chisel the centre first. Be sure to place the cats on a block of wood so you don't damage the flange. Then use a long chisel or long flat screwdriver along with a hammer or small sledge to work from the centre out. If the cats are welded to the pipe, then be sure to shine a light inside to be sure no pieces or balled up material is left in pipe. It can take a while so be patient.

Yours will hopefully be easier than mine. My x pipe and cats are welded together. Are yours high flow or OEM?

Stock H.
I just thought about unbolting the mid pipe and jamming a straight bar up in the cats to hollow them out?

Just buy an O/R H. There is one in the classifieds for $180 I think, BNIB. The stock cats are at kind of an odd angle, you'll be there for hours trying to bust them up. Not to mention the health hazards from the dust.

Agreed. I was about to set out on that adventure with an OEM GT500 mid and with the tools in my hands I said F it and bought a O/R H. Not worth the time and effort IMO. Plus the factory cats are pretty large and with that area honed out, it can hurt exhaust flow.

It also gives you that old truck muffler sound under the car. Don't really know how to explain it, but I've done several that way and hated the sound.

(yesterday)

I switched registration to NH from MA, and sent out the vanity-plate form requesting BLWN302 for the plate :)

Sean, Sorry brother. It's hard to believe about that engine!

Thanks Doug! It does suck, but good things will be coming from it I hope.

At first I thought your cat did something really fucking stupid to agitate you and thought it was a bit of an overreaction. Then I read the rest of your sentence and was like oh...... that kind of cat. My bad lol.
