Myy 11 gt does it. Every time i shift to 2nd it has a slight grind, you feel it, you can hear it. After about 20-25 minutes it doesnt do it. Ive been going 1st to 3rd until it gets warm....

Interesting, so they switched the fluid again in 2013? Do you have a link to this TSB?

Nope... just talked with him over the phone about it. He is a trusted personal friend and his team is very well regarded around here, so I didn't question it or ask for the TSB number.

After I read your post, I did search for it, but no love. I still trust him, but just can't find the TSB. I can always ask him when I see him on Friday.

tech said my issue is normal and it's because first gear is a straight cut gear..i smelled BS but took my car home anyway. used up all of the road in front of the dealership when i left the dealership sideways and powershifted to second at 6500 rpm

I smell BS coming from that dealer. GETRAG says they are all synchromeshed helical cut forward gears. I also found a pic of a gear set from a Boss. Pretty sure I don't see any spur gears in this picture. Time for a trip back to the dealer bro.

I fired up the wayback machine to see if I could remember the last straight-cut forward speeds gear box and I'm pretty sure it was the 4 speed in the 3.8 E-type Jag. Do clutches on that and it certainly whined everywhere.

Hell, even 32-35 3-speed Fords were upgraded to helical gears in all forward speeds... over the helical 2-3 and straight cut first/reverse that preceded that setup.

Does anyone know if it's ALL 13s or just the early build date 13s that are effected by the above-mentioned TSB? My 13 was built 1/2013 and I don't notice anything(cold-start notchiness etc) different from the TR6060 that was in my previous car. I only have 800 miles on the new car though.

Get it checked and don't fake money for an answer. My 2013 has already had the rear axle replaced and then the ecu kisfire issue. So far nothing with the transmission but I wouldn't be surprised if my MT82 was next in line to go wrong. Keep us updated.

Check this out with whining and bad gears too: http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=99283

Wow..... sure glad I got a 2012... 2013 Ford factory workers must have been hired back from GM when it went bankrupt.... The union guys that have been there for 35 years and expect $120K/year for turning 3 screws (1 of which is to the US government)

I don't wanna throw the tread off topic. But are any of the Boss 302 owners having problems with their MT82's? I mostly hear about the GT's only.

It's the same tranny. Slightly different friction material on the clutch, that's all.

The MT82 in my Boss is slightly notchy, a little more so when cold, but not too bad.

However, shifting from 2-3 at 7500 RPM is impossible. No problem with 1-2 or 3-4, but 2-3 I have to shift at 6900 or I'm locked out. Pisses me off, but fairly common from what I've seen on the Boss forums.
