Not exactly true, the other way, and many say it is the stonger way, is to use a carbide bit and trim the inner edge of the ring gear allowing the stock full circle pin to be installed, your choice, I trimmed mine, and used the stock pin

Yeah I know I could have went that route but I didn't wanna trim on the gear.
