What should I do for a fuel pump?

Some background: I was planning on doing a DOB GT450 kit and collected most of the pieces minus the intake. I "upgraded" the fuel system with the Walbro TU282HP 255lph pump/hat assembly and a wire kit from JeremyH. Long story short, I hit a career snag and the DOB intake got put on the way back burner (fingers crossed 2019 group buy).

So on to my question. I have noticed the Walbro sending unit is kinda wonky. Not super accurate over 1/4 tank and seems to "hang" after a fill up. Just not giving me warm fuzzy feelings.

I still have the OEM pump/hat assembly. Would there be a pump that people recommend I replace the OEM pump with? My DOB build is going to be on the stock internals so only looking for a safe 450hp. I want a good reliable pump that will safely support 550hp (125% of my max HP). Thanks.

DW340 should work in the stock hat so you can use the OE sending unit.

Also I thought the Walbro TU282 was a 405lph, not 255. Let me know if you decide to sell it.
I've heard of people using Chevron Techron additive to get lazy sending units unstuck. That's assuming the unit itself is not defective.

Along with Jeremy hopefully chiming in, I'm kinda looking for people's experience with doing this themselves. What pumps did well for them and ones that I should run from.
