Alright so ive been on this site for about 2-3 weeks now and have been reading up and seeing alot of ppl on here running well into the 13's on almost stock setup's and street tires...and i need to now what the fuck you guys are doing that im not!!!i've got an 06 gt 5 speed, stock 3.55's,cai,pulley's,off road H wit corsa's,tuned with a predator and have a pair of m.t. et streets i use for the track on greg weld racelites.weld's 17x9.5 m.t. 26"x11.5...(also got a zex 100 shot but not in use currently due to stupid ass window switch problems)...but the best ive been able to due (without the spray) is: 1.946 60', 5.761 330, 8.894 1/8, and 13.799 @101.35mph...im launching at about 5k and shifting around 6k(i know not much of a technique)...barely started racing a couple months ago and got about 10 trips to the track under my belt, and i know all that practice makes perfect bullshit, but i think any input from you guys would be alot more helpful...

SUSPENSION. LCAs,UCA would help alot. With the same mods plus suspension work I would 60' low 1.6s and run mid 12s. Also the stock hydraulic clutch I think was always more difficult to modulate than a conventional clutch cable. Those 2 suspension mods will help alot and of course more seat time. Practice and most of all, have fun. Also the DA (density altitude) can make a big difference.

Try shifting at 6500 rpm, assuming you have a tune that has raised the rev limiter. Also what is the elevation of the track and typical weather conditions.

i'm gonna disagree a little here...a 1.94 isn't that bad of a sixty foot time, i only did a 1.92 on a 12.92 pass

i think the heat, and altitude (perhaps) are really hurting you. that 95 degree temp is hurting you a couple tenths for sure if not more. cooler temps, power shifting at a higher rpm....you could probably net a 13.3, imho.

on ET Streets... a 1.9x is very poor. those should be able to get you 1.7x 60s without issue

I can't believe no one has recommended gears. 4.10 or even 4.30 since you're NA. Some would even recommend 4.56.

add a saleen blower!

hahaha!! +1.

and OP, you've come to the right place for help. Guys had mentioned suspension and gears. Those are where those tenths are coming from.. and driver mod of course, but nonetheless, more bolt ons and seat time. Since you know, we can't all be Matt D running his near 11s on motor.... lol. :beerchug2:

Joe - I think that is because he's looking for technique help and not mod help.

he should be able to get some nice times on 3.55s for now.

to the op, when you say tuned on predator, do you mean canned tune or custom from a shop? looking at your trap speed i would say you dont have a custom tune cuz you should be trapping atleast 105 even in this weather.

I've tried many different techniques launching and on the 12.9 pass in my sig I launched at 6k dumping the clutch on mt dr's and the car just bogged to a 1.92 60'....i've slipped it alot, slipped it hard, dumped it all with consistent 1.96-1.92's (depending on trap prep)....now with the 4.10's i'm expecting better. What's weird is in my 95 with a stock longblock and suspension minus sportline springs the car cut a 1.737 60' wiht a 3.27 gear and same tire. Weird.

Note, these engines get heatsoaked very easily so it if you let it sit to cool down or even push it in the staging lanes that will help ALOT if you looking for new best times.

think i may have some vids, ill see if i can post them up later.and am not power shifting, kinda new so dumb question, isnt that beating on the motor a little, hitting the clutch and shifting at wot, wont the rpm's sky rocket???and a while ago i was doing really heavy burnouts,so i was bogging even launching at 6k,since have eased up on the burnouts, tire pressure at 16psi and yea dumping the clutch with little wheel spin...

add a saleen blower!

yea if i had the cash...kenne bell!!!

hahaha!! +1.

yea ive been considering suspension, but besides upper and lower control arms, what else, shocks and struts?my cars lowered also...but am also thinking about losing weight in the car, swaybar delete, skinnies in the front,etc...and yea have heard alot about Matt D up here, heard he can bang gears pretty good,so what makes him better than any other ppl on here...

yup you guessed right, its not a custom tune, jus tuned for the cai...thats about it...

go to the track and get someone that can drive, pay him $20 and let him run your car.

j/k haha

first, do u have a specific tune for the mods you have right now ? if so where did u get this tune from ? 87 89 93 oct?

u may want to swtich to 4.10 gears, try a 26 or 27" drag radial on 17s its fine and u can drive around.

is ur car a coupe or vert?
