Your knock sensors were disconnected?

I was working on my super charger install today, and noticed that the last time I was working on my car, I must have accidentally left my knock sensors disconnected. However, I never got a code for it. What happens when you disconnect the knock sensors? Does it pull all the timing to keep the motor safe or does it advance all the timing since there is nothing there to tell it to stop? Any input?

..for some reason I seem to recall that they might be turned off in a SC tune.

If I remember right. When you disconnect the knock sensor the ecu always sees knock and pulls timing, it is the same as having a bad knock sensor. By default it pulls timing to prevent damage.

In the older cars (such as my SVO) this is a common mod to intentionally disconnect the konck sensor. Reason is they would pick up on other frequencies that were not detonation related and pull timing, so they would get unplugged with no effects on timing

I doubt they would turn them off on a S/C tune, they are there to make sure the car is running right. If they turn them off they would not be able use them for data logging I think.

Generally they are turned off on a twin screw/roots supercharger tune due to the noise that's made by the blower on top of the engine. All depends on your tuner though. Mine get turned off at 5500 rpms and up but are on the rest of the time but that's how Lito likes to tune.
