Today was my second time at the track since buying my car in May. The first time it was virtually stock except for the M90 blower. I'm 385hp to the wheels and have a 3.73 limited slip rear axle ratio.

Since last month I installed Koni adjustable shocks and bought a set of Race Stars with Nitto 555r tires. I dropped the tire pressure to about 20 lbs (it felt really loose and I wasn't willing to go lower yet). I felt like I was hooking better and my 1/8 mile times improved by a tenth but my 1/4 mile times and trap speed are still about the same or slower. I only ran twice today and it took almost 3 hours to make those two runs because they were very busy. The car sat for a long time before each run so it wasn't hot other than baking in the sun. My times were as follows:
R/T____ .567___ .277
60'___ 2.111__ 2.013
330'__ 5.805__ 5.678
1/8___ 8.767 __8.646
MPH __83.55 __83.59
1000 _11.326_ 11.203
1/4 __13.489_ 13.355
MPH _104.44_ 105.14

I'm still not hooking up great but my biggest concern is that I'm losing ground on the second half of the track. My car seems to run ok but I haven't been completely happy with xxxxxx's tune since the M90 install. Instead of being peppy all the time, it's pretty much a dog unless you floor it and get in the boost. And my track times show that the car isn't as fast as it was even a month ago.

I've tried emailing xxxxxx and have gotten nowhere (one reply to 6 emails) and I'm not going to sit on the phone dialing his number all day waiting for him to answer. I'm just pissed that I've dumped almost $8K into this car and guys with NA motors are putting down better track times than me. I should be at least a second faster with this car.

I'm about one more email away from abandoning the $700 I paid for my original tune and pursuing a new tuner to deal with. When I mentioned to my local club how disappointed I was with their favorite tuner I was criticized for being a smartass and not realizing that he has a family and a national business, etc. Sorry, but that doesn't mean squat to me when I cannot get any reasonable response in 4 weeks. He said he could adjust the tune if I gave him the SCT serial number. I emailed it to him and no further reply since.

So my questions are:
1) Any suggestions on improving my 60' times?
2) Any tuners out there willing to work with me on adjusting my current tune or even replacing it? The drivetrain is stock except for the 2010 Roush M90 I got off a wrecked 427R and had installed by my local mechanic. The car has 19K miles. The blower had 6900 miles when purchased and I've had it on the car for about 3000 miles. I'm on the stock pulley and only pushing about 5.5 lbs of boost.

You took all that time to erase the tuners name from your post, but it's in your sig. Lol.

I'd say it's probably tune related. It might be worth getting a BBR tune for giggles and try it out.

What was the DA?
How are you launching - that 60' time is horrible. get it down to 1.7/1.8 and you will get into the 12's no problem.

You are gaining 22MPH from the 1/8th to 1/4th - that is not too bad, I am only gaining 18mph on a conservative tune.

The M90 is prpbably the smallest blower for our cars, and with your numbers, you should be getting high 12's, but again that 60' is crap.

If he is not responding, make an in person stop at his shop. He can't avoid you then.

Like others have said you 60 ft time is killing you...your 1/8 mph is a little low as well. My car is bolt on full weight other than the spare and jack and I trap 86 in 1/8 very consistently. FYI I usually cut 1.7-1.9 60s with a 555r

Your dyno graph looks kinda wonky after 5200rpm but you got something else going on for sure. Even with your current 60ft times your car should be in the high 12's and be somewhere around 110-114 mph.

I think it's your driving. 385/376 is enough to go way into the 12s. I ran almost a half second better with 330/320 N/A'ed. For starters, like the others members said, you got to get your 60 down. What gear are you going through the traps in? How many rpms going through? Where are you shifting?

Yes, my driving is part of it. Even with over 30 years behind the wheel, I've only launched a vehicle down the track exactly 6 times. But I still feel like I should have a higher trap speed with the HP numbers I'm supposed to have.

To answer your questions, last month I was shifting at redline and going through the trap bouncing off the rev limiter in 3rd. My redline is turned back to 6250 (was 6500 before the blower install/tune) so today I made a point to shift around 6K so I wouldn't hit the limiter and could get some speed in 4th. Crossed the line about 4500rpm in 4th. I simply don't have enough time to get wound out in 4th, the car won't rev fast enough.

I've also installed an MGW shifter so my shifts are fast and smooth. Launching about 3000-3500 and working up the nerve to launch at higher RPM, but I'm already spinning a lot off the line and flooring it more just makes more spinning. I guess this is the part where experience and training comes in.

Are you letting the car cool down before a run? heat soak kills these cars.
I shouldn't be trapping higher than you.

I think there is def something going on with your trap speed. I shouldnt be any where near your trap speed(spinning or not) with 60-70 less rwhp.^ lol

I had about an hour of waiting time between the two runs today, car was shut off and sitting in line on the blacktop with the hood partially open.

Need some vids of your runs shifts should be something like this. I have 4.10s, were it sounds like you have 3.31, I am just running out of gear in 3rd with a 26" tire. I ran a 2.3 60s messing around but you can see I trapped 86.3x in that run.

Ok what size tires are they? You picked the worst dr's for a stick car if your wanting really good track times. But since you already have them oh well. How long are your burnouts? 555r's need a good long burnout. They have to be really hot to hook up. Not so much if you had mt et street radials or slicks. With a stick you should probably drop your air down to 17 psi hot. When you check your tire pressure make sure the tires are hot when you do it. If your checking them cold at 20psi then after the burnout it's probably closer to 23-24 psi. What was the name of the track and where is it at in elevation? You need to move your redline up to 6750 and shift closer to 64-6500. These cars like to rev. Try those things at the track before you spend money on a tune.

The track is Orlando Speed World in Bithlo, FL. I'm going to say that the elevation is less than 50' above sea level. Tire size is 275/60-15.

I've had zero experience with the SCT hand held tuner. I spent 5 minutes playing with it and figured out how to check and clear codes and that's about it. I tried to look at the tunes but nothing made any sense and I'll need a manual before I can datalog anything because that screen made even less sense. Can I possibly get a walk through for fixing the redline?

And if I were going to replace the DR's, what should I get? I definitely think I need a shorter tire because the current ones are 28" tall and that's just not working out. Seems like our local track is known for being a bit slick as well. I see a lot of M/T tires out there but when it comes to ordering some there's so many choices.

The track is about 30 miles from home and I'd prefer something I could put on at home and drive back and forth to the track. Swapping them at the track would involve a lot more work as well as an extra vehicle/driver to bring and store the tools and tires.

What size rims are you going to be using them on? a 26" tires works well.
And MT's sticks like bubble gum.

Just remember, changing to a smaller tire will change your effective gear ratio, so your shifting will need to be sooner. I put 26" tires on my car and while it hooked, I had to shift into 4th crossing the trap at only 4800 RPM, killing my ET.
