why does everyone want to spin the coyote up to 8000 plus?

Every test I've read shows the BOSS intake giving up what looks like too much low/mid for a small gain at the tippy top where it won't get much use outside of the track. So unless you are tracking the car seriously, you're better off with the regular intake.

Exactly. Might even do 435hp at 400 ft lbs of torque.

This may be a good thread to post in
I’m looking at swapping my 3V for a coyote but I’m used to and really like low end torque vs needing to rev out a high rpm motor
The 3V is currently boosted with a Pd blower and I would likely do the same with the coyote.
I was looking at doing a gen 2 truck engine and keeping the truck cams thinking that that would give me the low end torque and grunt that I’m wanting while not needing to rev out to 7k+
Does anyone have any reasons this would be a bad idea or any better suggestions?

Gen 2 pcm doesnt play well with 05-09 cluster.
If I were to use a gen 2 coyote, I would still use a gen 1 pcm so the cluster works simply by connecting the can bus. This requires using gen 1 timing components in your gen 2 engine due to how cam position is sensed in gen 1 vs gen 2. I do belive the firing order is different between truck and mustang. You will need to run the truck calibration OR repin two coils and injectors to run mustang calibration.
IMO a stock coyote makes plenty of low end torque starting just under 3000 rpms. Not like a blown car, but no weakling either.
Do a LOT of research before starting to buy parts. Also highly recommend starting without any boltons and getting the engine to run 100% stock-like. That way you arent fighting too many unkowns at.the same time if you run into any running problems/stalling etc.
No matter what you chose, it WILL require tuning. Incorrect trans settings like individual gear ratios, if not correct, do affect drivability, load calculations by the pcm, all of which ultimately has an impact on commanded timing and AFR.

Truck firing order = windsor HO = much nicer exhaust note
I used to dream of having comp grind a set of cams for a truck motor, install a 2018 GT manifold and just go ham. Would probably be a 500+ hp combination.

Is that the standard windsor or the HO 5.0 pushrod firing order??
I actually like the sound of the standard mustang coyote, and get a ton of compliments on the exhaust sound.

I think a lot of what I'm hearing is muffler configuration, but honestly I have a hard time not choosing a HO firing order small block ford for my next project. I remember decades ago going to a car meet and there were a few notchbacks with 2 chambers, offroad midpipes and E303 cams. Nothing beats that for me.

If we're going back to the 90s cam wars then i may as well throw the X303 into the ring...
