I have always wondered why Urist runs a Procharger on his SSO car when he is the co-owner/designer of Hellion Turbos? Obviously the Procharger is working out pretty good for him, lol. I am in no way bashing Hellion, but it just doesn't seem like good advertisement for his business when he doesn't even run his own product. I did some research but couldn't find any reason. Anyone have any insight?

I don't know anything about SSO, are turbos legal to run in that class?

havent really followed Mustang drag racing in years, definitely odd but as said prolly something to do with class rules, even though both fall under the power adder category

After a little research, Yes they are, however, it appears the turbo guys are really restricted and the Procharger guys seem to really have an advantage. That class is nicknamed "Procharger SSO" because of how much better they perform in that class with less restrictions than the turbo guys are given.

no, that is because Procharger sponsor's the class for NMRA. The reason he is running the procharger is because of something with the rule book for NRMA.

I wouldn't buy a hellion kit so I'm out!

+2.. On 3 kit is almost identical in design, comes blow through and is super cheap. Also, the new 2011 kits look like absolute crap in my opinion. My money would go to Powerhouse if I had a 2011.

Oh, well that makes sense then. Didn't know the turbo guys had more restriction on them. Even with the restrictions, the turbos are still running strong as Tuten ran 7.20 @ 201 mph in Bradenton.

Urist made the switch to a ProCharger due to severe turbo rules that went into place several years ago. There was clearly an advantage to the ProCharger and he took full advantage of the rulings. Evidenced by five straight SSO championships. This season the turbo cars are allowed a 98mm turbo but Urist has apparently had "something extra" in reserve and continues to win rounds by running with, and most of the time, ahead of the turbo cars.

He's not a dumb racer....at all.

Anyone that would put a (literally) $100 turbo on their vehicle is quite possibly insane.

Out here on the west coast PSCA races, a 123mm Vortech has ran 6.71 @ 212 mph in Outlaw. In PSCA its now close between this and the twin turbos that are in the class.

Here is a couple pictures of that blower that I took when I was at the PSCA race on 5/21---its huge:
