Received a call from MAP today saying the Vortech is considerably louder after the install of the forges bottom end, 12755 cams with ported heads, FRPP intake and the 3.33 pulley...Mike pulled the inlet tube off and inspected it, no signs of blockage/anything wrong and checked the impeller shaft and it is solid..when he was tuning the car he was obviously inside the car so he did not notice any different noises Fri/Sat but today when he started the car and standing in front he noticed how loud the blower was.

I bought the blower used from a forum member that used it on his 2010 for approx 8 months before he sold it to me so it is not that old/have that many miles on it.

Advice?

Mine did not change its sound level or pitch after forged motor swap.
What kind of noise ,bearing squeal? more blow off maybe?

Did you change pulley/cams/intake when you did your engine build?

Mike checked the belt and no signs of shredding/dust...

One size down from stock pulley and a 10% overdrive pulley on the crank. Already had the frpp throttle body and am using stock intake until jury comes back in on the new ford intake.
Cams [hopefully] being done over the winter with a new [ C&L or frpp] intake and smaller pulley. let me know when you figure this out subscribing for sure.

Hey Greg, did you switch to a blow thru setup during this build (relocate MAF and install a power pipe)? If you are are bypassing into the atmosphere, it can tend make a little more "noise". But I have never heard a blower just get louder like the way you are describing from different engine mods. But you did put a smaller pulley on it right? So it IS spinning faster than it was before at the same RPM. So maybe it will be a little louder. I hope it's nothing serious man. That would suck!

Let us know how it goes.

Nope, no change to the blow off/MAF setup..I understand the faster spinning by going to a smaller pulley but I would think it would whistle more than be loud.

My procharger is alot louder with my 3.9 then my 4.3.

Its just because its spining faster.

For those that have experienced the increased noise was it just at idle or was it throughout the RPM's?

I've seen blowers get louder with pulley swaps. Hell your old 97 sounds like a Tomcat now. But my Procharger got a lot louder with a smaller pulley as did my Eaton and Vortech.

I just had mine rebuilt and upgreaded to the SI. Check your power steering hose for the relocated tank. MIne had an issue that sounded a lot like the blower getting loud..
