WOT shifting w/o a wot box

anyway, i do not have a wot box, i shift below the rev limiter, and the motor acts like the throttle cuts out when the clutch is depressed above 6k or so. i've never had a reason to install a wot box as i can't see it would make any difference.

i haven't tried to datalog this phenom to find out what is happening when this takes place, but i have several different tunes from different sources, and all act the same way. i have heard others mention this same "phenom" so i'm trying to find out what the deal is, and who else has this take place w/o the wot box, and why.

to the mods, can this be left in the tech section as it relates to the other thread in this section, and hopefully it will get a little more scrutiny here than in the drag race section? thanks.

6838 - 6600 = 238, your car would already be in the throttle close zone which started at 300 before 6838 so you are correct if your throttle body is indeed closing it's because your rev limit is less than 300rpm from where you are shifting.

fyi rojizo the wotbox is also a 2-step.

is that all there is to it? if that's the case.....the obvious question is, why would anyone need a wot box?

A wotbox is there to help you power shift without destroying anything, and also it makes the powershift slide right into the next gear, it cuts the torque for you for a split second, and it also functions as a two step which GREATLY helps with consistent launches at the track.

And for turbo cars it allows you to maintain boost through the shift because you're not letting off the gas, 2 step helps build boost at the line as well by providing load.

The wotbox doesn't have anything to do with your rev limiter and your original issue though.
about the blades closing, that is an ecu function.

not sure what to say about that. if the throttle is closing/closed as i shift, doesn't this accomplish all that you just stated?

isn't the wot box a little more involved regarding changing the launch rpm setting then the 2 step? the 2 step(msd) only requires turning the appropriate dials and that's it.

anyway, it's all good, i think we're both happy with the way our cars shift during wot

Yes it does accomplish the same thing with the exception of having your throttle blades close and having to open back up when you let off the pedal

Nope, you simply open the program on your laptop and click whatever setting you want your 2-step to be and you are done. The WOTBox is SO easy to use and it is a GREAT investment.

For boosted guys its key to have a spark only rev limiter unlike the factory fuel one. Also I set my factory rev limiter to 7k while the wotbox max limit is at 6500 so I dont run into the factory safeguard that closes the throttle blades to prevent you from slamming into the rev limiter. When I datalogged during no lift shifting I use to always hit the 6500 rev limit while my shift lift comes on at 5800, it just goes to show you how fast it free revs or how slow I use to shift lol
