what tire set up are you running on your true daily driver? not track car that you occasionally take on the street.
thanks!

I was running 285/35/18's up front and 305/35/18's out back till just recently. Now running 285's all around. Not sure what aspect of "thinking about it" you are looking for. I mean, they all turned in unison and got me where I was going every time.

thanks, just their experience, liked it if they did something too outrageous. trying to find some limits and what works best. I'm 19 and new to the game

Who wouldn't like big tires on the back? I mean cmon only reason you wouldn't maybe if you want to rotate but im sure if you really did search you would find what ever it might be you are looking to hear?

I think he is meaning. If running wide tires on front do you get tramlining or hydroplaning? out back it really does not make a difference as far as tire size. The bigger the better as far as traction. Depending on wheel size then you get into tire height. Which there are really a shit load of possibilities out there.

The issue with wide front tires is tramlining, or the tendency for the steering wheel to move around as the tires follow the grooves in the road. The severity of it will be determined by the quality of your local roads. I am able to put up with it, but it does reduce the amount of fun you can have as you have to slow down.

yeah thats exactly what i was looking for and i appreciate it. is there a sort of average of the tire size the tramlining starts to really pick up? my local roads aren't really too bad, most of nova is pretty well maintained but i go to school at james madison in harrisonburg and any roads outside of the campus are pretty rough.
also, any insight as to tires any of you prefer? I've been reading on tire rack for something that won't break bank but also something that won't pop in a few thousand miles. i know thats gonna be an odd middle ground to look for but I'm open to anything y'all have to say

This.

I'm running 275/40/R18's on all 4 corners on Steeda Pentar 18x9.5 rims. Coming back from Dallas this evening on 175 my car kept pulling all over the place trying to follow the groves in the road.

I ran Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on all 4 until last summer when somebody decided to slit one of them during the night. I currently have 2 of the GS-D3's still on the front and I'm running Nitto 555's (the street tire) in the rear.

I LOVE the GS-D3's. They were perfect in the rain and on dry roads. However, I do not like the the price they now carry (300+/tire). The 555's are alright, but there's definitely a better tire out there.

I'm thinking about trying the Continental ExtremeContact DW tires next time around. They seem to have a good reputation here on the board and I need a tire that can last a good while.

And with a price range as vague as "won't break the bank", no one is really going to be able to help recommend you anything.

285/30/18 all around, I don't drive it to work everyday, just occasional "milk runs" :)

Tramlining is pretty bad, but I love the traction. Keep a firm grip on the wheel with both hands, like the racing manual says.
