Here's a video from my first track weekend out with the BOSS.

Car is stock save for NT01s, camber plates, and an adjustable rear bar. It has a K&N and Roush Mufflers as well.

Overall I am very pleased with the car's performance. I was able to run 0.9 seconds faster than my time in our race car that I set last year, despite the BOSS being 500+ lbs heavier.

I'll have another video to post later this week.

Unfortunately you can't beat physics - power to weight counts.

Great video, thanks for sharing. The sound is better than my car. I heard the NT01s squealing a bit when you were chasing the Cheetah. :beerdrink:

What size NT01s are you running?

What pressures are you running them at?

NT01s are 275/40/18, running 32-33 psi all around depending on the previous session's hot pressures.

I would get them up to 39 or 40psi hot, so right on the money there.

I run mine at 39 F/R hot so we are match there. They seem go off at about 41, so much that even I can feel it.

This year I switched to the 275/35/18 from the 275/40/18. Great for short tracks but I haven't yet tried them at Mosport where I am concerned i'll run out of revs in 4th gear.

Yeah the thing about the 35 series is they not only shorten your gearing, they also reduce your effective spring rate. You can think of the tire sidewall as a spring and part of the total suspension. Having the shorter (stiffer) sidewall is going to make everything less compliant in general.

Might be good or bad depending on what your personal taste is.

Nice video and the mufflers sound good. Man, that's one twisty track. Do you ever run a more open configuration?

Yeah, there are more open tracks, like the one at the end of this month. The one in the video I posted is a very technical track.

Update on my laptimes, upon further review, I actually ran almost a second faster than my benchmark time from last year!

The elevation changes must be fairly significant as they are apparent in the video and my experience is that video "downplays" elevation changes.

Nice run.

Nice run.

They are not 300 feet like Laguna Seca or Thunderhill, but they are quick rises and drops. The total elevation change in the track is about 90-100 feet; the camera does downplay it a bit--many of the corners are blind due to the elevation changes.

Too bad you didn't have a shot of the steering wheel, I'd love to see what happens in the boss/s197 as you go over the off camber hill in the infield (the middle feline turn, turn 9, hellcat). I had a passenger nearly throw up in her helmet there (and then before corsair/11 as you go up the hill). T9 is interesting in a lot of cars (depending on your line) in regards to the time needed to stabilize the vehicle before turn in to T10.

I can't wait to chase your times out there next month as discussed, though I'll be on 275/35/18 which I'm not sure how much of a damper that's going to be for me.

Yeah my preference is to run the camera farther back in the car so you can see the wheel, but w/ the Recaros, there is no place to attach my headrest mount.

The car was very composed in that section, not much drama, although you have to be careful to get the majority of your braking done before cresting the hill, then get a smooth/gradual turn-in combined with a progressive release of the brake pedal (not a "pop-off") to get the car turned without getting sideways.

I saw a guy's Porsche the other day with a hardware store shower curtain rod, the kind that twists out tight against the walls when it's in your shower, running across the passenger compartment behind his driver's seat. He hung his camera off of that. No cutting or damage to the car's interior, and a solid mount for the camera. Pretty clever.

I may look into that...
