Reviving an old thread. I have a 2008 and on Rock Auto it shows black or brown cop boots for spark plug choices. I have the black boot and it shows HT1's will work. Does this mean i have the earlier style heads? I just want to make sure i have everything needed before attempting to change them out.

Edit: found the info i needed from some different search terms.

Wow, I'm glad that I read the entire thread. I was starting to sweat thinking about plugs breaking in my 09.

Yes, I'm a newb to Mustangs.

Yup! I've taken mine out a few times since they went in and they look good.

I would recomend them over the HT1's on price alone

$60 for 8 autolite ht1's without the discount or shipping yet.

Total comes to $62.77 shipped for me.

Make sure you boomark rockauto they have awesome prices and always have discount codes available.

From what I understand the same company that makes the autolite plugs also makes the new revision motorcraft plugs for ford so they are essentialy the same thing. Now that the motorcraft plug has the coating it shouldn't be an issue with either plug.

Ford had the deisgn revised to have the coated sheath like the autolites, havent heard anything negative about them, I personaly like the autolites and was usign them before the new motrocraft ones came out, but they are really the same plug and you should be fine either way.

Ok, just got done swapping my plugs to the ht1's from rockauto. Wasn't scared of breaking any since I had swapped my stock ones for ht0's a few years ago when I was running nitrous. Came out real easy and the car feels a lot better now. Had a question on a couple of things from what i found after pulling them. Anything wrong with the car????

1) the front driver side boot cover came out like this while the rest came out looking normal

This is the plug

2) the front passenger side boot looked normal but the plug came out with some dark oily stuff on it

These are the plugs in order from rear to front passenger side

These are the front plugs (rear on the right to front on the left)

They probably had about 25k miles on them total.
