so that now I have a carbon fiber decklid and hood--but painted the same as the rest of the car--do I need to treat these carbon fiber pieces any differently when polishing? Or does it make no difference? Can I use the same polish because the same paint was applied, whether carbon fiber or not?

ok, so got my Honeydew soap - there are mix instructions on the jug for a bucket, but nothing about how much to use in a foam gun.
Can someone suggest how much I should use in the canister of the gun please.
TIA
Definitely want to protect that carbon fiber if it's clear coated. From what I've read in the past, carbon fiber does not have as thick of a clear coat as a normal painted car panel. Keep it waxed/sealed and you'll extend the life of the CF, and protect your investment![]()
Foam gun should have mixtures listed, based upon the guns settings (if it has them).
Most people usually mix 1oz of soap product to 6-8oz of water. That should give you some decent foam depending on if the gun is hooked to a power washer or not.
Thanks - I thought the gun might, but I didn't take it out of the box to look at it yet. the gun will just be hooked to a hose.

His CF parts are painted though, so they should have the same base and clear coat as the rest of the painted parts. I agree you should keep it waxed and sealed anyway but the same goes for non-cf body panels.
Just treat it the same.
OEM Painted Clear thickness != Aftermarket painted parts
6 in one, half a dozen in the other though, just keep it protected.
What are you talking about? His point was that you made mention of the clearcoat on carbon fiber parts was less than on a paint job. It was beyond the topic. HellsBells was just saying that and saying that they were painted and thus would have the same amount of clearcoat as any painted panel vs the idea that carbon fiber panels have less clearcoat.

Not sure what you don't understand. Seems like your just trying to argue for the sake of arguing. CF on it's own (unpainted) seems to have thin clearcoat, thus not lasting very long unprotected.
A CF panel painted by a body shop would most certainly not have the same amount of clear than an OEM panel. Usually they have much much more.![]()
safety for wet sanding!
I haven't wetsanded in a long time. Don't know how comfortable I'd be wet sanding carbon fiber
