Hail damage in Texas...

Hello all -

Spring time storms have hit again in North Texas as usual, and the storms produced golfball to softball size hail. Unfortunately, my car looks like it was attacked by a baseball bat now in my work parking lot. The good thing is the windows held up, with the exception of a crack in the windshield. 6 cars in my row where I parked had their windows blown out. Maybe it's luck or perhaps it was the tint that saved my glass? However, my car has sustained serious hail damage including spoiler cracked in a couple places, and the cover on my trunk is cracked.

This is the first time I have ever filed a claim with my insurance company. I know the spoiler is toast and has to be replaced. Most likely the hood as well since it took the brunt of the hail damage. So here's my question and where I'm going with this. Is it possible to just have him order a bodykit or parts from a vendor like americanmuscle.com and make this work? I figured this would be an opportunity to change the stance of my GT into something more aggressive. Is this something I can do with the body repair shop, or am I just wishful thinking?

To those that live in the DFW area, I hope you and your families are safe, and managed to get your rides out of that weather!

Regards,

Mike

I had the same thing happen with my car just a couple of months ago. The hail cracked my paint in a couple of places and every single panel had damage to it. When I went to file the claim he asked me if I wanted to do any changes with the car and I told him I was going to get a new hood for my car and he processed everything from there. Than they just did some PDR and it turned out really good.

It took them forever to process my claim since Geico had close to 20k claims to process and wanted me to go to one of their guys but I declined that and told them I would wait to have someone go to my guy and it ended up saving me a bunch of money in the end. He got an extra 5 or 6k out of them.

Well it's good that y'all only got hail and not a twister. We got about 10 min of heavy rain here in Austin.

We had twisters and heavy rain/hail all around us. Yeah, that storm is coming..hopefully it will hold together long enough to get some rain out of it.

If I had an opportunity to replace the hood and spoiler, what would you guys go with?

Sorry to hear that, at least there was no twister. I always get nervous when you start hearing sirens for tornadoes for the hail fact and of course the twister. Hope insurance Co takes care of it and it can be fixed.

Yes, me too man.

im got lucky and the car is undamaged

You did get lucky! The map was red and purple that stretched from Tarrant to Denton.

GT500 Spoiler and cowl hood..

That what I was thinking to on the cowl hood. You think the 2.5 or 3" hood? I love the 4" height, but as a daily driver I'm not sure if it's practical.

I added some pics from today's fun. Some pics are hard to tell, but in person there is no hiding it.

That's just insane....rather my spoiler than my head though! I had a feeling we would see threads like this after watching the news today. Glad you are all ok.

Knocked windows out at my grandmothers house in the Waco area and totaled my uncle's car that was working in the Dallas area. I'll try to get pictures.

i know here in ky if there is a lien on the car the insurance company will pay the body shop directly to repair with oem, if no lien on the car the check will be made out directly to you to do with what you please.
