I lost 2-3mpg with my gears... And your cammed? A tune-up could help for sure, but I can't see you getting crazy good gas mileage.

With 4.10s and bama street I'm getting better mileage around town. Can't say how much better, but tank lasts a bit more.

I didn't see a drastic change with the race tune. bout 20 miles lost.

I average around 250 miles to a tank all city. STREET
and 230 RACE
Haven't been able to run a tank on the highway though...

am hoping UDPs will help a lil.

will be doing an oil/plug/filter change this month...70k she's gettin old.

Hot Rods/LTs = Shitty MPG Period.

I've gone from 18.5 MPG with a 70-30 hwy/city mix to 12-13 MPG with the same mix. I just got 18 MPG on 285 Mile tank but 155 of those miles were done on a 2 way trip (there and back) with no driving inbetween. Pull the cams if you want MPG, plain and simple.

I get 17mpg strictly city driving no highway use. Stock KB kit and tune.

Some people are getting good gas mileage, others aren't so I'm leaning towards tuning

For what it's worth my car was down about 1.5-2 mpgs for about 6 months until I decided to run some fuel injector cleaner from autozone and it brought it right back to where it always was around 23mpg avg. Obviously not the effect you're probably looking for but nonetheless maybe something to check out.

If that were true then how do I still get good mpg with hot rods and LTs? I'm not the only one either.

If you have shitty MPG with hot rods then your tune is shitty.

Define shitty. My car is tuned very well, but modifying a car from stock then complaing about shitty mpg's baffles me. If you want the best fuel efficiency that you can get, leave the car stock. Aftermarket cams are not designed with mpg's in mind. Wait until the op adds forced induction. In traffic I get between 5 and 10mpg. I don't complain. On the highway the Ford computer tells me I am averaging around 19mpg. Nature of the beast.

I remember when the coyote guys started running the "ghost cam" tune. Almost everyone complained about reduced mpg's.

After looking back through this thread, I see a lot of guys responding that do not have hot rod cams, let alone any type of cams. The op has hot rod cams and they are not very mpg friendly. My JDM tune was horrible with gas mileage. I switched to Lito and while they are better, it wasn't a drastic increase. SirKnightTG, don't forget you have 3.31 gears while the op has 4.10s. That was a huge hit in mpg's when I made the change.

I actually expected a large decrease in MPG when I added my cams/headers/o/r X/ JLT but only lost about 1 the first tank, and thats with me driving hard.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love better MPG, but thats not why I bought this car, thats what my TDI is for, 48mpg @ 80mph FTW!

Even though I manage to get 27 hwy at 65mph, I still find the dirty looks I get from the Prius drivers in my area hilarious :)
